The Faith of the Absurd

Irony upon irony shrouds our faith:
That God Himself should die on a cross;
That those dead shall become alive;
That the weak shall lead the strong.

Lions and lambs together lie,
And the lamb will wield a sword--
Truly we have an absurd faith,
And we become fools for Christ.

Yet this foolishness goes to the bone--
It is truer than sceptics understand,
They call us fools when fools they are:
It is the world that is absurd.

But if I must become a fool, I shall--
For the sake of our Lord and our God.
He died on a cross to save mankind
And through Him we possess the stars.

Embrace the irony: embrace the absurd,
And you shall meet with God,
Immerse yourself in His eternal love--
For He loves the absurd fools we are.
