Our Beliefs

Jesus

These are the basic beliefs that Liberation Cyber-Church upholds. We do not presume to judge those people who do not hold to these beliefs, but potential members of this church should take note that these are our core beliefs, those which we believe to be true absolutely. We allow liberty of conscience on most issues within this church - and indeed we will happily accept members who hold to none of our beliefs. However, I cannot imagine that such people would wish to join our church! Our primary confession of faith is the Apostles' Creed:

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried: He descended into hell: The third day He rose again from the dead: He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty: From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic [universal] Church, the Communion of Saints; the Forgiveness of sins; the Resurrection of the body; And the Life everlasting. Amen.

We believe in the Bible as the primary resource of faith; in its truth and inspiration.

We believe in the equality and unity of all believers, both within and outwith this church.

We believe that God intervenes in the life of the church today, and that the Holy Spirit is the agent of such action in each believer.

We believe that salvation comes from grace by faith, and not by works of righteousness. Nevertheless saving faith naturally produces good works, and it is the duty of each Christian to perform them.

We believe that Christians have a responsibility to change the world for the better by their actions, ad to show the grace of God to the world in so doing. Christians stand for justice, mercy and love and our actions in support of this both can and should change this world we live in.

We believe in individual autonomy, that every person must work out their own salvation and take responsibility for their own actions. Therefore we accept all who believe in Christ into this church, and do not make exceptions. We accept gay and lesbian Christians, pro-life and pro-choice Christians, men and women of all races, ages and cultures. Our common bond is our faith - and we do not presume to judge others but leave their sins between themselves and God.

The peace of God be with you,
the peace of Christ be with you,
the peace of Spirit be with you
And with your children,
From the day that we have here today
To the day of the end of your lives,
Until the day of the end of your lives.
-Celtic Prayer
