The Lipan Apache men wore clothing made of buckskin and wore their hair long, sometimes supplemented by that of women and animals. They also painted their bodies and faces. The women wore fringed buckskin tunics over their short underskirts which were also made of buckskin. Over these outfits they wore blankets. They also wore moccasins (see illustration 1). When the Spaniards arrived, the Lipans quickly adopted such aspects of European culture as pleased them, including some clothing, horseback riding, and fluency in the Castilian language.
