MY ARCADE CABINET
THE MONITOR
This is a photo of the 25" Wells Gardner arcade monitor.  A PC monitor was used in its place for a few months as I completed repairs on the arcade monitor.  Now it works great, and games look EXACTLY as they should.
This is a photo of the monitor PCB, or Printed Circuit Board.  This is the element of the monitor that was 'blown'.  Before doing any other repair work, I bought a capacitor kit from Bob Roberts for about $12.  The capacitors on PCBs contain a ceramic type substance that electricity flows through.  As time goes on, this substance can become increasingly dry and crack, which inhibits the free flow of electricity.  Capacitor kits include a schematic of the PCB along with several fresh new capacitors.  All of the green, blue and black cylinder shaped objects are the capacitors that I replaced on this board.  Cap kits increase picture quality and clarity, but I was hoping that the cap kit might fix the monitor, which refused to power up.  But the monitor still wouldn't power up after all that work!  I knew that the search for the blown component would not be easy!
