| Biography: Rooney are Robert Schwartzman: Lead vocals, Guitar; Taylor Locke: Guitar, Vocals; Louie Stephens: Keyboard; Ned Brower; Drums, Vocals. Rooney is a five-piece rock band that plays music remniscent of artists spanning from sixties to present day. Their sound has been compared to everything from the Beatles to The Cars to Blur, although they have a distinctive sound and styles. Rooney manages to capture elements from the past four decades and make them sound modern day. Their formula is simple; Robert Schwartzman (vocals and guitar), the primary song writer, brings material to the rest of the band who then fill out the sound. Taylor Locke (guitar) brings his special brand of soaring guitar melodies, while Matt Winter (bass) and Ned Brower (drums) create a locked-in, precise backbone. Rooney then depends on Louie Stephens (keyboards) to fill the gaps with his analog and digital hooks. Vocal harmonies play an important role in the music, and with all five members singing, the scope of Rooney's songwriting is without boundaries. Rooney has been together for two years, diligently building a fan base in the Southern California area. They have played many of the Los Angeles area clubs on a regular basis, including The Whiskey-A-Go-Go, The Roxy, The Troubadour, and The El Rey, as well as surrounding area venues such as The Glass House in Pomona and the Galaxy Theatre in Santa Ana. With indie-rock credibility and stadium-rock musicianship, Rooney has worked their way up the L.A. rock scene and earned the respect of many of their contemporaries. Rooney has self-produced two separate EP's, the five song "Deli Meats" and the four song "Plug it in." More recently, the band went into the studio with the legendary English producer Keith Forsey (Billy Idol/ Simple Minds) and his longtime partner, engineer Brian Reeves, to record a new three song concept demo called "Mastedonia." The intent of the latest recording session was to capture the large sound of Rooney's live show onto a recorded medium. Although the members of Rooney are young in age, their sophisticated taste in music shines when playing their songs. They have each been playing their respective instruments for eight years or more, and plan on continuing to play from this point forward.
