Have you ever wondered what to do with those old CDs that you have no use for anymore?  Do you just throw them in the trash or pass them along to a friend?

Well, as you have probably noticed, these CDs have a nice shiny side that reflects light and splashes a rainbow of colors on your walls.  With this in mind, I decided to come up with an idea to put these CDs to another use.

What you will need:

1 or 2 compact discs                    large needle
thread or wire for hanging            wood glue (optional)
white glue                                   decoration of choice

Thread your needle with a decorative thread or a thin wire.  Heat your needle over a flame and punch a hole through the CD.  (If you should happen to have a metal punch of some sort, maybe an ice pick, punching the hole might be easier.)  Tie the ends of the thread or wire so you can hang the CD on a wall or door.

Now, the decorating possibilities are up to you.  You may use white glue to glue on a small bouquet of flowers, a picture, a favorite poem or verse, or any small craft item of your choosing. If you are using a small bouquet of flowers, you may want to wire them with a thin wire through the hole in the middle and tie to a wooden craft stick on the back.

If you don't want to hang your creation on a door or wall, you may skip the part about punching the hole and buy a nice little picture stand to exhibit your recycled CD.

Hanging your new creation in a window will require you to do two CDs just alike and glue them together with wood glue.

Have fun and be creative!!

Note:   I have found a few other uses for these CDs undecorated. Some birds have been known to fly into large windows.  You can hang these CDs outside your windows and the light reflecting off the CDs will keep the birds from flying into them.  They are, also, good for hanging in fruit and nut trees to keep the birds away from them.

Here's a not-so-good picture of one that I have made.  I glued white paper on these discs, glued six of them around the edge of one, spread white glue on them all and sprinkled them with glitter, glued on a few pine cones, a snowman tree decoration, edged them with glitter paint and hot glued a ribbon on the back for hanging.
