LULANGA FEED THE ORPHAN PROGRAM
Lulanga feed the program has been operating in feeding
and educating the Orphans by paying school fees for
them in various schools for two years since 2005. It
operates with funding from its board members.
Problem statement
There has been an increase in number of Orphans in this
country, for example in Lulanga Chingale Area in Zomba
District there are over 150 Orphans living in this area.
These have no access to Education and other social services,
for example Food and clothing.
Goal
To provide Education clothe and food to a large number of
Orphans for a longer period and to improve the living standard
of the Orphans by providing the required social services e.g
Education, Food, Clothes, Spiritual Life and Technical skills
Objectives
a To reduce ignorance by providing Education to Orphans at
both Primary and Secondary level
b To protect the Orphans from hunger and hunger related
diseases by giving them food.
c To impart technical skills to Orphans which can help them
to live independent life in future,such as Carpentry, Tin
smith etc.
Historical Background
Lulanga feed the Orphans was formed in 2005 and its aim is to
care for the Orphans who have been identified in the area whose
parents died of HIV/AIDS. The area does not have an Orphan care
centre, there are many Orphans in the area instance the Orphans
from Blantyre and Zomba areas are sent back to rural areas just
after the death of their parents where they live with grand
parents who cannot afford to buy basic necessities to these
orphans. For example there is Madalitso who is about 12 years
and is in standard 6 refer to attached photos.
This boy is able to feed himself and also able to write using
his leg, however he need to acquire relevant skills which can
help him live independent life in the future for example giving
him technical skills in tin smith carpentry which will help to
sustain his life in future.
Currently Lulanga Feed the Orphans Program operate with funding
from the board members which is inadequate due to the increase
in number of orphans who need support. Therefore the Organization
is looking for well wishers who can help to boost the organization
with both material and financial support. |
