The Concept Plan
There are 3
major components to the concept plan:
Pond
- a method
of controlling stormwater through natural processes
- water is
stored and used on-site, rather than being piped into the Bow River
- pollutants
are treated through ecological processes
Patch
- modelled
on the Aspen patches that naturally occur in this ecological zone
- located
near ponds to retain moisture
- greatly
increase the amount of nutrients cycled in the system
Corridor
- connects
natural landscapes throughout the built environment
- utilizes
native plant species and enhances diversity in the urban setting
- provides
a crucial layer of horizontal stratification on the site
