The Recreation section is the starting point
for the majority of aspiring gymnasts. In this section the gymnasts develop
basic gymnastic skills and elements and are rewarded for their efforts by being
presented with badges for their hard work.
Many of these young gymnasts go on to
specialise in one of the other sections that the club has to offer.
Registration : Current fees are charged
at 3 per hour. An annual fee of 27 is also to be paid; this will cover
registration to Scottish Gymnastics at 17 and the clubs annual membership of
10.
Dress code : Gymnasts are required to wear a red leotard for girls and a white t-shirt and
red shorts for boys. All clothing can be ordered through the club. Watches and
jewellery must not be worn and long hair must be tied back, where earrings are
newly pierced and cannot be removed they must be suitably covered by a band aid
or similar to prevent any injury.
Awards : Gymnasts will work toward the British Gymnastic Proficiency Award, working from
Badge 8 through to badge 1(badges and certificate cost 2.50 per award).
Waiting list :
As the section usually has a lengthy waiting list, any gymnast who has not been
present for three weeks with no payment and no contact made with the class, will
automatically lose their place.
Coaches :
The classes are run by fully qualified gymnastic coaches at all times. The
coaches are all volunteers who give up their own free time to run classes.
Class cancellation :
It is our intention where possible to inform you of any cancellation/holidays
two weeks in advance, where this is not possible all reasonable efforts will be
made to contact those affected by telephone where practicable.
We hope you enjoy your time with EKGC Recreation Section. If you have any
comments, please do not hesitate to talk to any of the coaches in the class at
an appropriate time.
Regards
