Tobecome Master of a Masonic Lodge is a lengthy and sometimes arduous process.  Moving through the chairs in a progressive line can take up to nine years, and each year there is more to learn, and more responsibility to be taken on.  Those men who reach the Master's chair are totally and completely responsible for the governing of a Masonic Lodge.  To be sure, theywill have planned well and can count on an able corps of subordinate officers, but the final and weighty responsibility as Master of the Lodge is theirs, and theirs alone.  The men who occupy the Oriental Chair are worthyof great respect, and thus merit the title "Worshipful Master."
