The "Enlightenment Compass"

Every front has a back . . . and the bigger the front,
the bigger the back;
proliferating into larger and smaller scales
as individual truths appear.

But awareness, recognition, and definition
of  all "truths" has eluded even the greatest minds,
because no one knows all of the answers
pursuant to life's perfect journey.

And although we sense basic truths to the course.
we want to know the course intimately.
We search and struggle to uncover these truths.
In means ranging from religion and science,
to gossip and dogma,
we attempt to quiet our questions with solutions
that will allow us to find certainty.

And just when we find meaning that we can buy into,
our perception is again awakened
as we discover that "truth" is relative to many things.
In essence, "truth" has no extreme boundaries,
nor does it have a consistent middle ground.

Paradoxically, we find that it is substantial, but elusive.
It has consistencies, but can change.
It could be defined in conceptual terms,
and yet it is very real.

As individuals we have personal truths
whether defined by our conscious or unconscious
intention.
But there are many who passively allow themselves
to live in conceptual worlds created by others,
while some yearn for true meaning,

For those who ask:
"Am I hypnotized?  Am I living in a trance?
Have I sought out my truth?
Why am I here? What path am I following, and why?"
Even without answers, these questions suggest
a conscious search for purpose,
and a connection to your heart.

If you happen to be one of the lucky ones
who has found YOUR truth
you will find yourself to be in a state of "knowing,"
With an expanded awareness,
your heart will help you to recognize
that you have reached a special place.

It is a beautiful place . . .
where what was once effort becomes effortless,
Answers begin to appear.  Fragments become whole.
Your enlightening experience
gives you a strength in "being,"
and work could even become play.

But be aware that maintaining a course
on this path takes strong-minded energy
fueled by faith in your purpose.
Obstacles require you to
progress out of your comfort area.
With a strong sense of inner strength
you must resist the pull to return
to your original passive security.

And as you follow your path,
even more doubts may surface,
offset by newer points of discovery.
This will reenergize your momentum,
to a status where you may even feel
as if you have finally arrived in a place
that you can call "home" and nurture indefinitely.

But upon reaching this new vantage point
more questions arise, bringing unexpected doubt .
Your expanded awareness is the culprit
behind this bad part of the good.
It could be that your journey
may not have taken you far enough,
or that your focus
may have overpowered your awareness
and taken you too far.

You may now feel that
you want to give up on your journey
and return to the comfort and safety that you once knew,
The futility of that period may now be displaced
by memories longing for the comfort of that old routine.

And compared with your current journey
to find and live in your "truth",
it may seem like a fair trade
to scrub this self-imposed mission
in favor of that cozy old place in your past.

So, now it's time to be real . . .
Have these new challenges really offset your mission?
In consideration, you must ask yourself,
"When there are birds around me,
do I hear the noise of their chirps,
or a comforting melody of their song?
Could I have become detached from my passions?"

It is also a time to remind yourself
that this journey began when
your inner voice resonated
from your innate goodness (but not ego),
and your heart-felt purpose connected
with your sense of destination.

And remember  . . .
it took a convergence of experiences and intuition
just to know that it was time
to make the shift in the first place.
You knew.
So this mission is your purpose
and therefore, is YOUR special "truth".

Listen.

Connect.

It will guide you.

In any moment,
know that no matter where
you find yourself in your journey,
that this sense of "knowing" is your compass,

Because when your calling is clear, and your vision compelling,
you can have faith that you are on the right path.

Press on!
