Here are a few historical facts about Angelique, publishing dates and real pen-names. The first ANGELIQUE manuscript, writen by ANNE GOLON who was helped in documentation researches by SERGE GOLON, was given to a french litterary agency. This manuscript, titled ANGELIQUE, under author name ANNE GOLON, was sent to 4 publishers : in Germany, England, Italy and France. (If one could find one of these precious original manuscript !) The very first Angelique book was published in 1956 in Germany (Blanvalet publisher) under the name of ANNE GOLON. And was a best seller at once. In 1957, Angelique was published in serial, in the French newspaper France-Soir. Then in April 1957, the book was published in France (Editions Colbert) . Both under the name of ANNE ET SERGE GOLON. The agency had fixed it, arguing "A man name shall look more serious" (original words !) . They fixed another pen-name for the English Angelique, without even asking the authors: SERGEANNE GOLON. In 1957-58 Angelique was published in England under SERGEANNE GOLON author name. Since there were no other official pen-name. So that SERGE AND ANNE GOLON is a wrong pen-name which never exist and never appeared on any Angelique cover.
