Additionl comments:  All info used. Results and info courtesy of Teesdale AC website. However ther are two (now three) major errors. This is not a record field and Louise Noble won in 2006. It looks like all details of 2006 race were lost.  Noble also finished 2nd here (must have overlooked in original results). Her time was 39:09. 415 finishers (last time: 87:32). Aiveen finished 22nd. Dave Whitmore finished 294th (54:16). Heaton performances were: 27 D Robins 38:53; 159 A Mulliss 46:55; 379 G Routledge 62:34.

Northern Athletics Junior Track and Field Championships.
South Leeds Stadium. Sat/Sun. 26th/27th May.
Day 2.
There was only one gold medal for the North East, at yesterday's second part of the Northern Athletics Junior Championships at South Leeds Stadium.
In the cold, damp and windy conditions, Gateshead's Sally Scott took the Under 17 Pole Vault title.
Cumbria gained a surprise victory, when Border Harrier Tom Farrell, made a decisive kick with 150m remaining, to win the Under 17 3000m, smashing his personal best time.
Matthew Davison of Gateshead was narrowly edged out of the gold medal in the Under 17 100m.
Rebecca Liddell of Gateshead finished a close second in the Under 15 sprint Hurdles, while clubmate Laura Welsh, took bronze in the Under 17 event. Both competitors clocked personal best times, with the following wind inside the allowable limit.
Noola Pearson of Gateshead, winner of the 300m on Saturday, took bronze in the 200m in what was her fastest time. However the wind on this occasion was well above the limit.

Day 1. .
The North East gained four gold medals, on the first day of the Northern Athletics Junior Track and Field Championships, at a cold South Leeds Stadium.
All the leading performances came in the Under 17 age-group.
Gateshead's Niall Flannery took over half-a-second off the old record when taking the 400m Hurdles title. Two weeks ago, Flannery set a new championship best, in the North Eastern Counties' event.
Morpeth's Laura Weightman caught her great rival, Kate Avery of Shildon, in the dying strides, to take the 1500m title.
Another North East 1-2 came in the Triple Jump, with Gateshead's Emma Pringle reversing North Eastern places, to take the title from Middlesbrough's Chloe Gill. Nicola Pearson of Gateshead gained a deserved first regional title, when comfortably winning the 300m.
Shildon's Amy Fleming was narrowly beaten in the 300m Hurdles, having to settle for silver.

Additional Comments: Only results sent due to time lapse.  More BMC runners than Veterans competing. Not sure why standard in BMC races rose for last two events, but probably because these runners, were not BMC members. Bell time for A race was 55.7secs. John Moore clocked 13.3 secs for 5th place in a mixed 100m. George Harden finished 3rd behind JM in 400m (59.2). Apologies but some Field results not available (not completed) on leaving meeting. North Eastern Counties' A.A Track and Field Championships.
Gateshead International Stadium. Sat/Sun. 12th/13th May.
Despite the cold, damp and breezy conditions, several records were broken at this weekend's North Eastern Counties' Track and Field Championships at Gateshead International Stadium.:
Yesterday, Teesside-based Rabah Yusif bettered the 13-year-old mark in the Senior 200m, against a slight headwind.
Gateshead Harrier Niall Flannery, opened the programme breaking the record in the Under 17 400m Hurdles. He also won the Steeplechase, High Jump and on Saturday, the sprint Hurdles..
Morpeth's Laura Weightman bettered the 11-year-old record in the Under 17 1500m as well as taking the 800m title, 24 hours earlier.
Shildon's Melissa Carr leapt a personal best distance to take the Under 20 Triple Jump title, adding 67cms to the old record. She also broke the Long Jump record on Day 1. Kate Wilson of Birtley improved her own figures in the Under 20 Hammer. Blaydon's Hester Dix took 35secs off the old record, set by Walking International, Johanna Jackson in the Under 20 5000m. Lauren Arthur of Gateshead won the Under 20 100m and 400m, an on Saturday, narrowly bettered her own record in the 200m.
Other records were set on the first day. Last year's English Schools' Intermediate champion, Richard Kilty of Gateshead, won the Under 20 100m, bettering the previous figures by a massive 0.35 secs (he also won the 200m yesterday).
Kate Avery of Shildon easily won the Under 17 3000m taking 12secs off the old record.
Sam Hall of Gateshead, who has been outstanding in the Under 13 age-group, smashed the Shot record, as well as winning the 100m.
The adverse weather conditions caused the Pole Vault to be moved indoors. The old figures were broken by Mark Christie (Senior Men) and Sally Scott (Under 17 Women), who both cleared personal best heights, but will not be allowed to count as records.
Other outstanding performances came from Northern Indoor 800m champion, Drew Graham of Gosforth who gained a middle distance double, using his renowned sprint finish to win the Senior 800m and 1500m.

Additional Comments:  All info used but in small print. A short first day but second day "dragged". I think Womens' 5000m (ran with Men) should have been on Day 1. Wind was probably blowing from East to West on Day 1, which helped 200m runners. The same was true on Day 2 but to a lesser extent. (Showery Day 1, Dry Day 2). Photo finish was out of action (due to I understand, a broken cable), from about 1.00pm (Sat) to 1.00pm (Sun). Though, it woked for U20 100m final. Apologies to Zoe Hewitson  (U13G 1500)  for getting name wrong and to Drew Graham, who of course is in Gosforth. Special mention also to Vicky Barr, who apart from her two wins, was disqualified for two false starts in the 200m. As report was not forwarded until 9.05pm, I did not have time to completely check imput. AW was sent at 12.45am, but report was annoyingly, not used. Rebecca Liddell was not credited with record as, I understand, the final flight of Hurdles was omitted. A re-run should have taken place. John Moore finished 11th in 1500m (4:17.62). T

National Young Athletes League.
Gateshead International Stadium.  Sun. 6th May.
Gateshead Harriers tied with Liverpool at the first match in the Young Athletes League Premier Division at the International Stadium, yesterday. Gateshead were one point behind their rivals before the final event, the Under 17 4 x 400m Relay, but the Tynesiders' victory ensured both teams shared the honours. Performances were affected by the strong wind, but Sam Hall's victory in the Under 13 Hurdles (along with the 200m and High Jump) gained him the Male Track best performance award.

League Fixtures.
Sat. 5th May.
Gateshead Harriers, who were without thirty athletes due to a clash with the British Universities' Championships, still finished second in their first British League Division 2 match at Chelmsford on Saturday. For good measure their B squad won the Northern League Division 2 match at Middlesbrough.
Gateshead's victories at the Southern venue came from Chris Boundy (Pole Vault), Andrew Sturrock (110m Hurdles) and Chris Sturrock (Shot).
As there were no National Womens' League fixtures, the Gateshead B squad were strengthened by several of their first team female athletes. Titi Ameobi made a welcome return to competition, with a victory in the 100m. Best overall performance came from South Tyneside-based Border Harrier, Sara Todd who won the 200m and both Hurdles races.
North Shields Poly won the Division 4 match at Whitley Bay. Gina Rutherford gained an impressive victory in the 800m as well as winning the 200m. Graham Level excelled in the Hammer and Birtley's Katy Wilson dominated the Womens' Hammer.

Additional Comments: Most of info used but compacted as this was a busy weekend. British League info from Jeff Sturrock (by phone) and results of NoE Div 2 e-mailed by Graham Hall. Additional Comments:  Only results sent due to time lapse.  Full results courtesy of Angus Lumb, but took longer to compile due to mixed race format. These shown in AW style. Weather overcast but little wind, slightly warmer than at Gateshead. Best performances unofficially were from Murray and Weightman. I understand Tommy Brannon is not M40 until August, though he has certainly been listed as M40 in some previous result. John Moore clocked 2:08.8 to finish 7th in 800m Race 2.

Additional Comments: Only results sent due to time lapse. Weather overcast, cool but little wind. Full results obtained later from Ian Severs. Dewdney missed Hurdles as she had an oral exam (it was still won by Central HS in slow time). I think Liddell equalled record (Girls' records only listed on results sheets) in Hurdles. Tom Perrins won 800m (2:02a).
