Additional Comments:  All info used. Results (+some pb's, though Nicola Pearson's was incorrect) courtesy of  UK Schools Games  website. The speed at which they appeared, was to be congratulated. Take note: England Athletics !  Relay teams not listed. I don't think the overall performance was great, and there were some dubious selectons. One competitor was completely unknown. I have not typed her name in any results this season.

Additional Comments: All info used. Division 2 results courtesy of Graham Hall. I think weather conditions (see above) were more or less similar at both venues. Due to this, I have included some performances which on a normal day, might have been ignored. I understand Level's Hammer distance was a pb. Other Heaton victories were James Buis (3000m St: 11:20.4) and Claire Hamson (400H: 80.4). John Moore won B 5000m (17:06.5). Full Heaton performances on HH website.

British Athletics League.
Sat. 4th Aug.
Division 2 at Moorways Stadium, Derby.
Gateshead Harriers took the British League Division 2 title, after a runaway victory at Saturday's final fixture at Derby. The Tyneside club gained promotion to Division 1 for next season, where they will face relatively shorter journeys for their matches, with Trafford, City of Sheffield, Border and the also promoted, City of Liverpool among their opposition.
Gateshead gained eight A string victories with recently-crowned English Schools 100m champion, Richard Kilty clocking a personal best time in winning the 200m.
Ade Babatunde also leapt a personal best distance to win the Triple Jump. Chris Boundy and Craig Sturrock won the Pole Vault and Shot respectively, maintaining their 100% record in their events. Andrew Sturrock gained victory in the 110m Hurdles and Liam Collins returned to action to win the 400m Hurdles, though he was forced to withdraw from the flat 400m later. The Tyneside club gained maxmum points in the Hurdles with Lewis Robson taking the 110m B event and English Schools Intermediate champion, Niall Flannery winning the B 400m clocking a personal best time over the higher obstacles.
Lewis Moses and Chris Parr gained maximum points in the 1500m and Ian Burns was successful in the Javelin. For good measure, Gateshead also won both Relays.
Match: 1 Gateshead 376; 2 Herne Hill 325; 3 City of Liverpool 318; 4 Swansea 300; 5 Derby & County 237; 6 Southend 232; 7 Bedford & County 216; 8 City of Edinburgh 153
