USMC JROTC at CHS
Enough acronyms for you?
USMC = United States Marine Corps
JROTC = Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps

The JROTC program has been at our high school since the mid-70s with (I think) about 12 kids. Now, we have over 110 in our ranks, many of them new joins. There are lots of teams in our unit, including male and female exhibition and standard drill, rifle team, PT team, and academic team (of which I'm a member). We go to several competitions a year at local and state venues. Besides that, we help out at
other things like those listed right there.
One of the funnest events for me is helping out at the WWII bomber fly-in in late Spring. Once a year, a B-17 and B-24 make a little trip to St. Pete-Clearwater Intl. Airport and the JROTC corps gets to help out with greeting and parking.
Personally, there's no better elective available at our school. Its academically easy, lots of fun, good camraderie amongst the class, and--depending on what branch-- taking JROTC will automatically bump you up a few ranks if you enlisted in the military.
