Ellen was born November 29, 1840 in Quebec, Canada to Napolean and Ellen Poliquin.  She was married to  Thomas Dushane.   Although we have no documented information we believe that they were married in Quebec in the early to mid 1860's.

Ellen's name first appeared in the Marquette City Directory in 1891.  In later years she was listed as the "widow of Thomas".  Her name appeared in the directory from 1891 to 1897.  Ellen died on June 5, 1897 in Marquette, Michigan.

In the Daily Mining Journal on June 8, 1897:

"Mrs. Ellen Ducheine, who died Saturday
of chronic bronchitis, was buried yesterday
forenoon in the Old Catholic Cemetery.  Mrs.
Ducheine was fifty-six years of age".

Since that time, the cemetery has been relocated to the Holy Cross Cemetery in Marquette.  There are no official records to document her burial.

There are no records to prove that Ellen's husband, Thomas Dushane, ever lived in Marquette, Michigan with his family.  We believe he may have died in Ontario prior to the time the family immigrated in 1882.
