| Mary Haglund was born in 1865. She was the daughter of Andrew Haglund. Mary married Phillip Dushane on August 22, 1888. She died 8 days later. We know very little about Mary or her family but we continue to research her family. In The Daily Mining Journal August 31, 1888 Mrs. Phillip Dushane died at her home on Spring Street, just south of the railroad shops yesterday morning of diptheria, the funeral taking place in the afternoon. She had been married only eight days. It is reported at this office that there are a number of other cases of this dread disease in the city now and that none of the houses have been placarded as is re- quired by the law. It is time that the health officer attended to business if the report is true. The city schools open Monday and every precaution should be exercised to keep the cases isolated or the disease may get in the schools with terrible results. |
