We are often amazed to see the wonderful tasks that computers can perform. We also know that a computer cannot be used as intended without programmes. However, have you ever asked questions like:
When a chacter is typed in the
keyboard, what cause it to appear on the screen?
What cause a chacter to be printed on a printer?
What determines which file will be read from a disk?
What tells the computer that the printer is not ready?
There must be something giving the instructions to the computer to do all these things. What is inside the computer doing this? The answer is operating system (OS).
