A spreadsheet
is a calculating tool that allow you to organise numerical data in a table format. People
have been using manual spreadsheet for many years. The data in a computer spreadsheet are
organised in exactly the same way.
The intersection, where a row joins a column, is called a cell. A cell may contain a number, a tile or a formula.
The disadvantage of the manual spreadsheet is the time it takes to recalculate and alter the spreadsheet if a data item is changed. The computer Spreadsheet allows you to change easily any data item. The feature also allows you to ask ' What if?" questions. Foe example, 'What if the process were raised by 10% ?'.
Common spreadsheet packages are Lotus 1-2-3 and Microsoft Excel.
