| Yes a little extreme but it is make or break for Nintendo and they've gone for broke. They have changed their control for their new console dramatically. The revolution is just the code-name for the new console but it sums up the new control tottally, And the pictures you see of this new control aren't fake. They are 100% official which is hard to believe. If you want to see the 50 minutes long conference click here Otherwise listen up and don't blink or you won't believe me. Nintendo created modern controls as we know them with the famicon but they are determined to stay ahead in the race for innovation. Click here for image 1. This is a picture of the new remote *sorry game controller fo the revolution alongside the revolution console. Yes this is when the mouths start haning open. And then they say is it April 1st? Click here for image 2 Yep as if you didnt belive it they put in different colours for you and multiply them. Now you really know you're not imagining things. Apparently the different colours are so you know whos controller is who's. yes ingenious. But you should about now be thinking surely there must be something else. Right on que: click here for image 3. Yes finally some sanity: an analogue, add on (even if there's no A or B button). Of course it is ironic the new control looking like a DVD remote, when the revolution has no DVD player. BUT it's not all bad. Click here for image 4. Yup the trailer is boring apart from a 3 minute video where it shows the possibilities of an infra-red control. There were may ideas on display like tennis, shooting games, conducting an orchestra and making food. What is th reason for all this though? Well it's something nintendo are obssessed with now: appealing to a wider audience - yep that's right 93 year olds playing the revolution or whole families playing a game together. They say that is the idea of the DS and that is the idea of revolution. Click here for image 5. Nintendo kept their plans top secret and probably shocked Microsoft and Sony today. But is it a gimmick or a revolution? |

| Loz's view: I actually liked the gamecube and had some mild faith left in Nintendo when it came to the revolution. I thought a touch pad control would work. When I saw the control I was confused but sure it couldn't be all bad. The video of its uses encouraged me a bit. But is it not just the same as an eyetoy? I think the future of the revolution depedns on how many over 60s want to have a game console. It is still crucial that Nintendo look after real gamers and hopefully good games will be available for them. There isn't much more I can say but Nintendo's future really does rest in the balance. It would be a shame to lose mario and zelda forever. | ||||||||||||||
