Biographical Information
Career:
I graduated from Michigan State University in 1966 with a BS in Police
Administration. I was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U. S. Air Force in 1967 and
served 10 years on active duty. Assignments included tours at Kincheloe AFB, Michigan; U-Tapao,
Thailand; Robins AFB, Georgia; and Strategic Air Command Headquarters in Omaha Nebraska.
During my active duty time I was responsible for the maintenance of B-52 bombers and KC-135
air refueling tankers.
I left active duty in 1978 to pursue a career in the aerospace and defense industry. I
worked for General Dynamics in San Diego, California, for three years on the Tomahawk cruise
missile program. I moved to the Atlanta, Georgia, area in 1981 to work for the Lockheed Georgia
Company (now Lockheed Martin Aeronautics). I worked on C-5 and C-130 cargo aircraft programs
as a Maintainability Engineer and later on the F-22 and F-35 fighter programs in the Information
Technology field. I'm currently the manager of a large software development project that is
used worldwide on Lockheed Martin aircraft programs.
I retired from the U. S. Air Force Reserve in 1989 as a Lieutenant Colonel. My military
decorations include the Bronze Star, three U. S. Air Force Commendation Medals, and the Armed
Forces Expeditionary Medal.
Personal:
Married Paula Serdynsky in 1965. We have three children - Carloe (33), Jennifer
(30), and Johnathan (26). We were divorced in 1981. Married Marsha Snider in 1984. Marsha
has two children - Brian (30) and Krista (22). All five of our children are married and we have
a total of nine grandchildren.
Marsha and I enjoy traveling and we've vacationed several times in the Bahamas and Hawaii.
We celebrated her 50th birthday with a two-week trip to England. We're actively involved in
our church and I've served on the board of several independent ministries.
Work, church service, children/grandchildren and now retirement planning haven't left a lot
of extra time for hobbies, but I have done some collaboration with a cousin on our families
genealogy. Knowing that history gave me the opportunity while we were in England to stand
in the same church where my ancestors worshiped over 500 years ago. That was an awesome
experience! I hope to do more genealogical research after I retire in addition to rekindling
my interests in tennis and fishing. I've also recently acquired an interest in target shooting.
We're planning to retire in early 2004 (Marsha works for Delta Air Lines) and move to west
central Florida near Crystal River.
