| My entire point in writing this was to see how many website names I could used in a story about Legolas. Unfortunately many of these websites are now closed but you may recognize the names if you've been in the fandom a while. Websites that are still running are linked and those that aren't will still be highlighted in blue. | ||||||||||
| The other day I was walking through my house when I stepped on a toy left on the floor. I stumbled and went sliding across a pile of newspapers that had also been left out. In anger I slapped the floor with my hand and growled about the junk all over the floor. I then turned around to see the cause of my fall and picked up a Green Lego; I eyed it suspiciously. Turning it over I noticed there was no opening on the bottom where the piece could be fitted to others; instead there was a lid closure so that it formed a box. I flipped the latch open and a small rolled up piece of parchment colored paper fell into my lap. My curiosity and fascination grew as I unrolled the miniscule scroll and read the following: "My dearest Maire,, Please meet me under the mallorn tree at dawn, and together we shall Fly! Love Always, Orlando Bloom." My face scrunched up into confusion. Who the heck was Orlando Bloom and why was he sending me messages via small plastic blocks? As if in answer to my query a tiny manila folder popped out the bottom of the toy like bread from a toaster. Despite the absurdity of the situation I ran to get a magnifying glass so I could read its contents. I held the document under the glass and read the front cover: The Orlando Bloom Files was printed in bold black ink. Before I continued I looked around me suspiciously. Surely this was just some joke and someone was waiting to pop out and laugh at my foolishness, but I saw no sign that anyone was near or watching. I used the magnifying glass to read through the files: a bio sheet, a list of filmography and several photographs of himself and characters. In one photo I saw he had long, blonde hair and pointed ears. He hardly looked like himself but was Immortal Fair all the same. The label on the photograph read: Legolas Greenleaf, Prince of Mirkwood. I gazed at the photo for some time Drooling Over Legolas and staring into his Elven Eyes until I could ahve sworn I saw them blink. I looked deeper and saw the movement again. "Greetings." A voice said softly. "And welcome to The Wood." I started and a shaky hand went to my throat as I looked about me and realized I was no longer at home, but under a great silver tree with the first rays of sun piercing the horizon. The soft light allowed me to see little, but I looked in front of me again and saw the eyes looking back into mine. I gasped for breath but could find none. The stranger with the melodic voice approached, hands outstretched to show he meant me no harm. "Be at ease, it is only myself." He placed a hand on each shoulder and looked into my eyes in an effort to assure me. His breath moved the hairs about my face and it made me Quiver to be so near this Hot Elf. "Come with me, Through the Foliage, we shall watch the sun rise." He grasped my hand in his and lead me thgouh the undergrowth to a natural shelf in a hillside. There we sat upon a flat rock and he placed an arm about my shoulders. I was still completely in shock and realized I had not yet said a word. "Who are you?" I asked earnestly. He looked at me in surprise. "I asked you to meet me here, yet you pretend to have forgotten me?" There was an element of hurt in his eyes and it pained me to see it, but I was merely trying to sort through this ethereal dream. Then I remembered the note I had found in the Lego...but something wasn't working out. "Wait a moment...the letter said I was to meet Orlando Bloom, is that who you are? I remember seing a photograph of you in his file." "Let us just watch the sun rise in peace, and enjoy the presence of one another. Is there a need for words at this time?" I could tell he was attempting to change the subject and wasn't about to let him get away with that. I kept my body turned sideways looking at him and did not move, as if demanding an answer. He stared at the sky for some time but relented and looked at me once more and sighed. "I did not know if you would come if I had written it from myself." He answered at length. "Elf Love is a strange thing and I did not know if you would want it." I opened my mouth in surprise. "Not want it?" I asked with incredulity. "Look here Mr. Mysterious Elf, I don't know where you came up with that idea. I've felt drawn to you since the moment I saw the photograph...as if you were calling me. But how did you know about me...and how did I get here?" He smiled soflty and said, "I saw you in my mind's eye and I did indeed call to you. But I do not know how my wish came true...how you appeared before me out of the morning mist." This had given me some food for thought and I snuggled up to his side once more and looked back to the sky and the newly risen sun as I turned his words over in my mind. He stood after the sun had reached a point and held his hand out to help me up. "What do we have planned for the day? Or are we just going to Wing It?" I asked. "Yes." he replied. "Together we shall fly." And I remembered again the letter and the still mysterious words. We spent much of the morning wandering the forest, which he told me was not his home, but that of the Lady Galadriel and he was visiting these elves before he traveled once again. He was a Warrior Elf on his way home from battle. His mention of travel sent a tremor through my heart and I knew that we would not long be together. A tear formed in the corner of my eye, but I kept my face turned away from him until it disappeared. He led me to a dark corner of the forest and his face became excited as he turned back to me adn whispered, "Welcome to Greenleaf Cove." as he lifted a mossy branch for me to pass under. I crept through the space he provided and found myself in a canopy of bright trees along the bank of a sparkling river. The sunlight could not get through the thickly growing trees, but instead the cove was lighted from the warm light reflecting off the water's surface. It was a fantastic trick of nature, for the cove was almost completely enclosed and no one could see that it was there. It was late afternoon and we swam in the crystal waters to cool ourselves and lay on the soft bank to let the sunlight dry us. We ate lembas and drank from silver cups he pulled from the inside of a tree. I sighed contentedly and watched the water reflections dance on the walls of the cove. We stayed there all afternoon and on into evening , the presence of each other a soothing balm to the soul. We fell asleep in each other's arms and dreamt of our day together. When I awoke I was on the floor in the family room once again. I sat up, startled to be home and tears cascaded down my cheeks until it would seem the wells would run dry. The papers I could not find, but the Green Lego was still clutched in my hand. Had it been a dream? I heard a voice whispering my name and I saw Legolas In My Mind's Eye and felt his presence in my heart. I knew we may yet meet again, under the mallorn tree to greet the sun of a new day. |
