Legolas Snow Globe - By Ker

Legolas Clock - By Ker

Ever wondered what to do with those recorable cd�s you burned � but went wrong � and you can�t copy anything else on them? Or those freebie discs that come in the post or with your magazine � now you know�make them into clocks�..!

Materials:-

One cd

Battery clock mechanism - you can get these quite cheaply in most hobby craft shops � or as I do�go into one of those � we call them � Shops in the UK � they always have really naff clocks for sale � it�s an even cheaper way to get your clock mechanism�.

Battery for the clock

Small plastic or metal washer

Double sided tape

Pack of CD/DVD labels � FULL FACE

A computer with CD Label creating software or access to one

Chose, or create your picture using FULL FACE CD/DVD labels � remembering the hands of the clock will be in the middle � the one above isn�t my best � the black and white bandana picture is a good one�! Place on disc.Taking the hands off the clock mechanism, stick it to the back of the disk using double sided tape. Put the washer on before you replace the hands on the picture side of the disc. Put the battery in the mechanism and you can �clockwatch� all day long�..

Galadriel's Mirror - By Ker

Materials

One wooden framed mirror � size is up to you (or buy a cheap frame and a mirror tile) The one in the picture is about 9 x 12 inches

Tube of P?b?o Gel Crystal any of the iridescent colours � or any water based translucent �thixotropic� gel for glass or ceramic

Toning acrylic paint � pearlised gives a nice effect

Variety of glass beads, shapes, charms, etc.

Selection of bugle beads and seed beads � glass, plastic, pearl � whatever!

Instructions

Work out what sort of design you want on the frame before you start � it doesn�t have to be exact � but once the beads, etc. are in the gel you can�t move them easily.

Paint the frame with 2 coats of paint, when completely dry cover the surface with the Gel Crystal, you could use a large stencil brush to spread this because you do not want a flat surface. When the surface starts to get a little tacky - and it does so quite quickly put your beads, etc. on. The design is entirely up to you � you can buy in for a specific theme or colour scheme, or if you have some bits and pieces over use them up. Just sprinkle randomly if you feel you don�t have an eye for a design � or find something to copy.

Leave for at least 24 hours before hanging on the wall.

Custom Cell Phone - By Ker

How to Leggy-Up your mobile (cell) phone if you can�t buy/afford a cover for it � or they just don�t do one�..

Materials:

One boring phone

Legolas pictures of your choice � cut from magazines, from your computer, wherever you can get them from..

Plaid Royal Coat Decoupage Finish or any other similar waterbased product

Plaid Dimensional Fabric Paint � Gold Glitter (or any other colour) or similar

Selection of Body Jewels or any Flat Backed Beads

Anita�s 3-D Clear Gloss Finish (for liquid embossing) - Optional

Assemble everything you will need � plus a couple of spare pictures in case something goes wrong and you spoil one�. Arrange them on your cover � bear in mind whether your phone case comes off in one piece or not - look at the example � this one comes off about 1/3 way down the back, so the design takes that into account.

Once you have your pictures and cut them to size, coat the backs with the Decoupage Finish and stick on, then cover with a coat on top. Leave to dry, then put on another coat � leave to dry � this is the boring bit.. but worth it for the smooth finish.

Stick on any jewels or other decoration � the body jewels will have their own glue on the back � use a bit of the Decoupage Finish if using Flat Backs� then take the Fabric Paint and add any other embellishments, names, etc. This is brilliant stuff for this type of thing as the glitter is very �glittery� but no chance of it flaking off. You can also use it on the front of the phone if you wish, once the back is dry. There are lots of colours to choose from if you don�t fancy glitter� Leave to dry.

The 3-D Clear Gloss Finish is great for giving a chip proof, shiney finish all over � or as I like to do� use it to give a bit of �dimension� to faces, hair or any other part of the cover you want to stand out�

Legolas Christmas Ornament - By CC

Materials needed:
~Clear glass globe ornament 
~Decoupage glue
~Spray-on sealant
~Small paint/craft brush 
~Your favorite pictures of Legolas 
 
Picture suggestions:
Using many small pictures of Legolas will probably be the easiest way to fill your ornament without creases and lumps forming in the pictures when you try to get it inside. Trying to use one large photo is possible, but I don't guarantee the results.
 
If you've printed pictures from the internet I suggest you spray them with the sealant to keep the color from bleeding when you apply the decoupage glue. Magazine pictures should do okay without it, but can be sprayed anyway if it'll make you feel better.
 
Instructions:
 
Remove the metal loop and top from the glass globe.
Lay all your Legolas pictures face up and depending on where you want them placed arrange them in order. 
 
Doing one picture at a time, use the paint/craft brush to put an even coat of decoupage glue on the front of the picture.
 
Fitting the picture through the open hole at the top of the ornament however you can (rolling is best as long as you don't glue the picture to itself during the process) place it anywhere inside the globe you like. Upper portion, middle portion or the bottom. 
 
Once the picture is in place, dip your brush into the glue and coat the back of the image to seal it to the glass. Do this one by one until the globe is filled.
 
If you're going to have space between the pictures have a sheet of tissue paper (or a handfull of shimmery tinsel) to place behind the images once they've all been glued in so you can't see through the glass to the glued, messy backs of the images on the other side. If you're going to completely cover the entire inside the globe with images like a collage, don't worry about the tissue paper unless you end up with an unplanned gap or problem area. Also - if you're going to make large spaces between the images you can add confetti or glitter or any other festive elements you'd like.
 
Once all images/elements are glued to the inside of the globe and have been sealed with a layer of glue over the back decide if you want to have tissue paper (any color) or tinsel to fill the globe. If tissue paper is your choice you may glue it to the backs of the images immediately. If tinsel you must allow the glue to dry first (with the top off) -drying time will vary.
 
If you chose tinsel: once the glue is dry, cram as much festive tinsel inside the globe as you like. 
Finish the project by replacing the metal loop and top of the globe taking care not to scratch any of the glued images.

Arwen's Pendant - By Mara Cailowyn

Items Needed: 
Clear picture of the pendant 
Clean metal cookie sheet 
Thin silver wire 
Silver chain 
Sculpey, bake-able clay 
Metallic silver paint 
Glue gun 
Butter knife (to scrape it up when you need to) 
Needle

For the star: 
Either 7 teardrop shaped crystals 
or silver glitter paint

Base: 
Start by drawing outline of fairy (wings and wound up legs) onto a metal cookie sheet with a washable marker. Apply bits of the clay inside the outline to build a base for it and smooth the clay together as you go. Make sure you have the two oval shaped holes present in the "legs". Take a small piece of silver wire, wind one end into a loop hole (you'll later place the chain through) and make the other end stick straight. Insert it into the top of the base. (You may need to reinforce this with hot glue when its finished) Then take wire and wind it into the shape of the legs...and make a large diamond that fits on top of the base (It's easier to understand if you look at the picture of the finished product or the picture of the actual pendant). Tap it down so it embeds itself in the clay. Take the needle and make intricate lines on the wings and the legs (To give it more depth) as you see on the regular pendant. Scrape it up with the butter knife carefully and then place back down on the tray. If you are using crystals for the star, bake now like the directions tell you. If not, go on to the next part.

Clay star: 
Create 6 tear drop shaped pieces of clay and one that is almost twice the size of the others. Apply them as you see in the picture, the longer one at the bottom-middle, and its other end overlapping the others vertically. Bake as the directions tell you.

Base: Paint with metallic silver, and use the silver glitter on the star.

Crystal star: 
After having baked the base, apply crystals like you see in the picture with a hot glue gun.

VOILA!!

The One Ring - By Mara Cailowyn

Items Needed: 
Sculpey bake-able clay 
Picture of elvish script 
Butter knife (to scrape it up when you need to) 
Needle 
Clean metal cookie sheet 
Metallic Gold Paint 
Cotton Ball (or other round object that will fit inside the ring) 
Chain

Roll a piece of the clay into a long band, the thickness that you want your ring (you can cut it to the desired circumference later). Lay it out onto the cookie sheet and tap it down very slightly to flatten the inside of it. Peel it up with the butter knife and handle the band very carefully so you don't squish it. Measure it around your fingers to find the desired size and cut off excess. Carefully place it together into a ring and try to smooth out where you have connected it together.

Place ring on something round that is about the size it is... you can even use a cotton ball... just to keep it from squishing up when you etch in the elvish. Then take the needle and a picture of the elvish lettering, and carefully draw them into the ring. Try to make them as readable as possible.

Take it off the cotton ball or other round object and place it on the cookie sheet. Bake as directions tell you.

Carefully paint it with the metallic gold paint but don't put too much on or it will fill in the lettering. Place it on the chain and you have your very own precioussssss.

Aragorn's Ring - By Mara Cailowyn

Items Needed: 
Sculpey bake-able clay 
Picture of his ring 
Butter knife (to scrape it up when you need to) 
Needle 
Clean metal cookie sheet 
Green glitter/glue mixture (make it or buy it) 
Black paint ( if you want it to look aged and pick up the details) 
Silver Metallic Paint 
Gold Metallic Paint

Start by rolling out a bit of the clay and making sure it is all the relatively same thickness. Use a picture of the ring to cut out the shape of the ring for a base (Including the removal of the small bits over the serpents heads, but do not remove the oval where the stone would naturally go). Roll bits of clay to create the serpents tails and wind them as you see on the ring. With the needle, add lines to the tails and make lines (wing like) coming out from the center oval piece and to the band. Do this all down the band. Roll two serpent heads and create two points on the top of each. Apply them to the ring making sure the points are over the cut out area. Using the needle, make eyes, nostrils, a mouth and a curvy line down the middle of their foreheads. Gently scrape it up with the butter knife and fit it to a finger. Remove excess of band. Carefully smooth the edges together where you join it and make any last minute fixes. Place on the cookie sheet and bake as directions say. 
 If your using black paint, apply it all over the ring and make sure it gets in every little details and crevice. Sweep the silver over it but just lightly. Do not get it into the crevices. Use the glue/green glitter mixture in the center oval. Build it up as each layer dries. Apply gold metallic paint just to the points on the serpent's heads. Voila!!

Legolas Ornament Coins - By Mara Cailowyn

Items Needed: 
Sculpey bake-able clay 
Picture of Legolas (make it simple) 
Butter knife (to scrape it up when you need to) 
Needle 
Clean metal cookie sheet 
Black paint ( if you want it to look aged and pick up the details) 
Silver Metallic Paint

This is more creativity and careful application than anything else. Roll Clay into a circle. This will be the base of the ornament. Using the needle, carefully and tediously map out the basics of Legolas's form (head, hair, eyebrows, nose, ears, chest, arms..etc.). Etch them in lightly so you know where to apply clay. Use the picture, a steady hand, the needle and a lot of praying to carefully apply the basics. Take bits of clay and build up the high points of his face, and chest....then ears..then hair (I suggest carefully rolling strands of clay and applying them for hair). Don't try to be too fancy. If you mess up, simply smooth the spot down and mold it into what you want. After you've spent sooooo much time doing this, roll out a long, thick piece of clay. Apply this all around the outside of the ornament. Punch a small hole at the top to put wire through, and using the needle, etch in a holiday greeting or his name...etc. into the background. 
 Scrape up with a butter knife, then set back down and bake as directions tell you.

First use the silver metallic paint to cover the back. Let dry. Then turn over and dab black all over it..into all the crevices. This is important. Every little piece should be black. Then lightly brush silver over the ornament, this should be done all in one direction and make sure you don't get this into the crevices. Also, don't glob it on or you'll lose the details. Let dry and hang up for all to admire.
