The Necropolis of Paris
The Necropolis of Paris is a very strange one. The Malfeas calling itself King Oblivion took the control of northern France (at least in the world of shadows), and most northern Necropolises accepted its rule. Paris is the exception. The Necropolis is on war, a triangular war: For the first time recorded, Spectres are fighting spectres, and the Wraiths, whose power can't match either spectral side, can't believe their luck. Here, the difference between Hierarchy, Renegade of Heretics is minor: All are fighting for the remaining of their lives, for those who remained are tied to Paris.
King Oblivion's spectres and the mysterious Khaibit Spectres neglect (with some reason) the unaligned Wraiths. While everywhere else the Spectres of King Oblivion seem unstoppable, the Khaibit seem to have enough supernatural help to hold their ground. Indeed, they seem make a great profit of the creation of new Haunts, and the extention of others as if they were the cause of it.
In Paris, Haunts are growing, in power and in volume. what was, in the last century a simple room was extened to the whole house. Thus, whole blocks became haunting places, most of them claimed by Spectres. Among them, the Place de la Concorde, where ''Lady Guillotine'' executed thousands people in the 1789 Revolution, the Place de la Bastille, where the fortress still exist in the Shadow World and is inhabited by the Khaibit, the Catacombs, where unaligned Wraiths made their home, etc..
Some places are so haunted, the veil here so thin, the skinworld and shadowworld are merged in one: That means Wraiths can touch and be touched by mortals, and that the buildings are common, giving to the area some kind of eerie that makes most mortal nervous: These Places are called ''Enigma'' in Paris, for no one know why and how they were created and saw their surface increasing with time...
The Forces of Oblivion & Darkness
The most powerful Spectres of Paris are the
Khaibit, who have the supernatural
help of Nephandi and Necromancy practicing Vampires, and of
course, the interest of their own dark gods. Few know their true
lair is somewhere deep in the ground under Paris, most believe
the Bastille to be their principal fortress. As the
fortress which was being destroyed in world of the living, its
spectral counterpart was being strenghtened by Stygian Steel,
its tower and walls extended to give in a most gothic and
frightening appearance. To the surprise of the other Wraiths,
the place didn't became a place of desolation, the Spectres
rarely manifests in obvious way, instead trying to corrupt
the mortals coming here for the ''fun''...
The forces of King Oblivion were cast out of Paris before
succeeding in entering: They took over an abandonned
Garou Caern dedicated to the
Unicorn, and built there their own, troglodite-like fortress.
Thus, the nights in Fontainebleau can be quite scary. Their
forces in Paris are but scouts trying to find a weakness in
the Khaibit forces, of even armies of darkness trying to
take the Bastille.

The Khaibit
The Wraiths
The Wraiths, called Fantômes in Paris, lost the Capital centuries before, and so went into hiding as the dreaded Spectres of King Oblivion and the mysterious Khaibit fought each other for the control of Paris. Stangely enough, the presence of the Vampire Toreador eased somewhat their problem, as places under their control were free to haunt, and as the Spectres avoided any contact with the ''Kindred''. Thus, the Père Lachaise Cemetary, the greatest Enigma of Paris, is under the control of unaligned Wraiths. The second Enigma is, surprisingly, the Louvre Palace, but the power of its owner, a Vampire calling himself François Villon, is too much to even try to enter her unnoticed. The third is a group of Enigma-islands in the Catacombs. While the horrible Nosferatu claim to control it, some parts of Catacombs are inhabited by some of the oldest --non-aligned-- Wraiths of Paris, who seem to have an alliance with the stony Gargoyles, protecting them from the Warlock Tremere Vampires while the Gargoyles protect the Wraiths from the Giovanni. Other Haunts of note exist, for example, once more a place of art: The Opera has a long history of haunting, most of them attributed to the horrible Nosferatu, but is in truth largely haunted by Hierachy-aligned Wraiths. The Cathedral of Notre-Dame is also a prime example: Its doors were rumoured to have been build by a mortal who invocked the powers of Darkness to help him finish them in time. The Cathedral is largely haunted by christian Heretics, who sometimes use their powers to inspire the priesthood: More than one Wraith or Vampire Hunt was initiated by an Inquisitor who saw a sign in the shadow of the cross who fell at his knees...
