Appendice 3: Nymphea
As the vampires of legend were known to possess great physical prowess, so were they known for their incredible beauty. Nymphea is similar to Potence and Fortitude in that it adds to a vampire's attributes, in this case enhancing the Appearance rating.
Note: This Discipline is older than the Bloodline, finding its roots in Ancient Egypt. Its old name was Neferys.
Note 2: It is rumoured that some Black Widows have learnt to control Nymphea's effects, temporarily cancelling its effects for more discretion.
Nymphea has multiple effects. The first, and most obvious: It
effectively perfect the beauty of the Vampire, softening her
flaws and enhancing her beautiful features. Each level mastered
have a particular effect as a bonus, similar to the ''animal
feature'' effect of the Gangrel Flaw. The hair can grow longer
and/or reach perfect length and cut, the eyes take a new exquisite
color, etc..
The second effect is what Mages would call coincidental, and is
somewhat similar in its workings to the Mage ''Arcane'' Background:
Reality seems to slightly alter itself around the Black Widow. Wind
makes her hair flow in graceful waves, cameras always seem to
take photos from her best profile, giving them this ''je
ne sais quoi'', this apparent natural sensuality that
charms others so easily.
The third is less known: As Nymphea supernaturaly enhance physical
appearance, it can counter the effects of deforming effects,
including supernatural ones. Most magical effects decreasing
Appearance will disappear at the end of the scene.
System: Each Nymphea Level adds one dice to any Appearance Roll.
Of course, the visible Appearance is effectively ''increased''.
So any difficulty involving Appearance would in facts involve
Appearance+Fortitude, etc..
All Vicissitude damage (or anything with similar deforming effects)
can be healed as Aggravated Damage, regardless
of victim or assaillant's Generations.
Last but not least, Nymphea can only be increased to the actual
rating of permanent Appearance (not including Vicissitude
deformations). So a Black Widow with 3 in Appearance could only
increase Nymphea to 3, and so have a visible Appearance of 6.
So a Nosferatu or Samedi can't learn Nymphea.
