| MEET THE LEGGY DOLLS |
| Leggys were marketed by Hasbro in North America, Polistil in Europe and Shiba in Japan. The Hasbro and Polistil dolls are the same dolls, while the Japanese dolls differ. The Hasbro dolls have names, and the Polistil dolls go by number. The Leggys are approximately 10 inches tall, although the Hasbro dolls are slightly shorter than the Polistil dolls. They have 7 inches of leg, and a waist less than 0.75 inches wide (across, not around). Each doll in the standard editions come packaged on a large blister card with a stock oufit, panties, platform shoes (which are really hard to get off) and a plastic stand. All the dolls except Sue have cellophane bands around their heads to keep their hair in place. Loose dolls can be identified with the markings Hasbro 1972 Hong Kong on the right butt cheek. | Kate has red-orange hair just past her shoulders, with green eyes and peach lipstick. Her hair is curly in the Hasbro release, and straight in a flip-do in the Polistil release. I find Kate interesting because she can look sweet and innocent or really sexy, depending on how she is styled. For more Kate Pictures, click here. |
| Sue is the only African-American doll, and has a black afro hair-do, with brown eyes and red lipstick. Sue is not only the hippest Leggy doll, she is the hardest to find and as a rule is the most expensive to purchase. The Japanese dolls did not include an African-American doll. | Jill has long blonde hair almost to her knees with bangs, as well as blue eyes and pink lipstick. I find Jill the most fun to play with as her hair can be styled in so many ways. There is a wide variation in the blonde color of Jill's hair. The Polistil dolls seem to be lighter in color than the Hasbro dolls. For more Jill Pictures, click here. |
| Nan has brown curly hair in an updo ponytail, with half-brown, half-violet eyes and red lipstick. As with some of the others, the Polistil Nan Heads are a bit slimmer than the Hasbro heads. Nan is probably the prettiest doll of the bunch. For more Nan Pictures, click here. |
