This first game came in 1986 on the Nes and wasn't only the first game in the series but was also one of the very first non arcade rpgs, and was also one of the first to have a save feature which alone was revolutionary.
The story goes as follows, the prince of darkness (Ganon) sets out to capture the princess (Zelda) and claim the triforce of wisdom for himself but before he can catch her she breaks it up into many pieces and scatters them across Hyrule.
After capturing Princess Zelda, Ganon begins to capture anyone seeming to have any clues as to the shards whereabouts.
While Impa fled from Ganondorfs clutches she came across a young boy named Link seeming to have what it took to became a destined hero.
When Ganon's henchmen came upon the two, Link defeated them and began his adventure unknowingly of all the dangers ahead of him.
After finding all the shards and recreating the triforce of wisdom. Link had a final show down with Ganon and was victorious.
