Welcome to my site
Some people have been having trouble
accessing the site. This is because Yahoo is very stingy with
their bandwidth, so unless I shell out some cash the site will
shut down whenever too many people look at it. I’m
working on a way to get around this that won’t cost me
any money, but it’s going to take a while. For now, if
you can’t load the pages just check back in an hour or
two, and it should work fine.

About Me
I was born in Nairobi, Kenya in 1979, but I
did most of my growing up in Nova Scotia on Canada's east
coast. Right now I'm living in the city of Asahikawa in
Hokkaido with my girlfriend, Jill. I'm teaching English
at Kita High School in Asahikawa, while Jill teaches at a
number of different schools in and around the city. I'm
pretty busy stuffing English into the heads of Japanese
teenagers, while trying to learn Japanese as fast as I can.
But when I do have free time I want to explore different
parts of Japan and Asia. So far we managed one three week
trip to South East Asia, but we haven't managed to see as much
of Japan as we’d hoped. Hopefully once the weather ger
better we’ll be able to do some more travelling.
My Life in Japan
This was my first experiment in web
publishing. It’s a series of pages about my experiences
in Japan. I had intended to make a new one every month,
but I got a little behind while I was working on the vacation
pics, but I plan to get back to it in the coming months.
Coming Soon…
I don’t know what’s next. It
took me a long time to put the Asian Vacation pages, so it
definitely won’t be anything that ambitious. Jill said
she might do a page for next month, so that will be something
to look forward to.
Cool Links
Skype You can download
a program here that works just like MSN messenger except you
can talk instead of writing. Best of all it’s free. Drop
me a line if you want to chat.
The Best of Still Photojournalism 2005 This site has a lot
of good pictures fromthe winners of the National Press
Photographers Association’s awards. There are many
different catogories. It could take hours to look at them
all, but it’s well worth it.
Japanese
101 I’ve
been visiting this site a lot lately. It has a lot of good
resources for learning Japanese. Best of all though, it has a
free daily podcast. I can download a 15-minute lesson onto my
mp3 player everyday. It’s perfect for my walk to work in
the mornings.
Moving Image Archive I found this one while I was working at the
Museum of Science and Technology. It is a very interesting
collection of old educational and propaganda films that you can
download or stream on your computer.
