The Brother's attack is earth-based, so it's worthless against flying creatures, but otherwise great.
The Brother's HP+ and HP Bonus are always good to have. Of course the earlier in the game you get these the better because the character gets 30 extra HP each time they level up. Defend enables you to avoid damage from any attack, but it's usually passed up for other abilities.
