Recruited by Edward at the age of 33 for his expertise in covert operations and explosives, A. J. McKnight (Few know his full name, which he hates; usually, it's just "Jack.") has a past that he is reluctant to discuss with anyone but the closest friends.
Born to a Marine family in Wilmington, North Carolina, Jack was naturally drawn to the sea and the life of the military. A natural athlete, Jack obtained a scholarship to the naval Academy at Annapolis, MD, where he graduated into the US navy as a lieutenant (Junior Grade) after graduating with a 4.0 GPA.
Not long after joining the navy, Jack made a decision that would set him on a life path that would forever change his life; He entered SEAL training and eventually graduated into the Elite Navy Seals. For the next 6 years, jack participated in a number of "black" operations ranging from South America to the Far East, including missions into Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq in the early days of the second Gulf War. It was during one of these missions that Jack's team was sent in to retrieve a blown CIA agent that he first came to the attention of the CIA.
It was late in 2000 that Jack met Elizabeth, a British citizen working in Washington and fell in love. Knowing that he would be on deployment most of the year, the couple married and quickly had a child. Wanting to be home more, Jack jumped at the offer to join the CIA's Paramilitary branch, which promised him more home time and a more stable life. Unfortunately, the stress of Jack's work was too much for Elizabeth and the couple divorced in 2003 with the mutual decision that Elizabeth take their daughter with her.
Edwards offer came at an ideal time for Jack as he had just resigned from the "company" after a blown mission where his whole team was killed before they could make their escape.
Jack runs the gambit in his mental and emotional states; he can be outgoing and good-natured one day, then quiet and brooding the next. When he's working, he's extremely focused on the mission and dedicated to what he sees as a necessary job to make the world a better place. It's been rumored that Jack is so good at what he does that he can remove a single target in the mist of a crowded restaurant with an explosive charge and leave those around said target unharmed; that he can plug a quarter at 1,200 yards on a bad day with a head cold... he's just that good.
When Jack's not in the field, he's training new and old field operatives in the use of explosives, weapons and "the best 1,001 ways to kill a man with common household items" He's fluent in 5 languages, including Arabic, Farsi, Spanish, Mandarin and English (of course).
Although Jack is a dedicated field operative and to the cause of The Grace Foundation, Jack tends to live life hard and fast; preferring to fill his life with as much as he can before the old man with the sithe catches up with him. When he is a friend, he's the best that you'll ever have, when he's against you, it's better to put as much land as possible between you and him.
