David was recruited by Edward Warren at the age of 21. Growing up in a poor neighbourhood in London England, David often got into fights and was arrested on numerous occasions. He was on his way to a life of crime no doubt if Edward had not intercepted. He would later tell David that he saw a blank slate - someone that he could mold into the kind of agent he wanted to work for the Foundation. David was one of the first - he, Logan and Connor. He considered them his friends and was incredibly hurt by Logan's betrayal. It has impacted his ability to trust others greatly.
As the years passed, Edward grew to trust David more and more and put him in charge of training new agents - Marcus and Rose. He and Rose sparred immediately - a cover for the attraction that they felt for one another. Eventually they gave in and were married soon after. Both were unsure if spies could lead a happy life but for a few years seemed happy. But then while on a mission, David made the decision to sleep with Anya Milos in order to gain information - and Rose found out. She promptly divorced David and left the Foundation.
The dissolution of his marriage served to refocus David. He has been described by some as abrupt and cold - but those who know him well know that he is focused on doing good and trying not relive the moments in his past that he would rather forget.
