Social and economic conditions today for many Americans, regardless of ancestral origin, have fallen below levels that we, as a nation, have struggled to maintain. Affirmative action programs, created to bridge the gap of opportunity from years of racism and "Jim Crow," have given way to political pressure, "Willie Lynch," and church burnings. "TILL KINGDOM COME" is an illustration of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, who gave his life for the betterment of all people. His dream, his message, was that we all love one another as brothers and sisters.
His image and dream have been forgotten by many of us, seeking to instead excuse ourselves by saying "It's not my problem or "I don't have time to care." As a nation, America will be tried and tested by forces that believe this country no longer remembers or cares about the dreams of Dr. King. |
