Derroll Adams was asked by the Framus company to help design a banjo. Derroll had a lot freedom to do what he liked. The picture shows the model that was sold as a Derroll Adams banjo. It is an open back with a heavy wooden rim. Most extraordinary is the wide neck Very suitable for his banjo style. Very much in contrast with very narrow necks of the Bluegrass banjo's. The head is of archtop type.

The banjo was also designed to be resonable cheap. "in case it got lost it can be replaced easier"

The woodwork of his banjo has an extra finishing touch. A play list is still sitting between the brackets.

Derroll also had a second banjo in use. It was Windsor banjo also with open back.
