Life in America
My parents had always been good to me, and they allowed me to make my own decision at a very young age rather to stay in Hong Kong with a more stressful life and perhaps a limited future, or to move on to America with the other two sisters to seek out new challenges. I remember that I had chosen the later, but it seemed like it was so long ago that it was the beginning of my novel life.
I was moved from place to place and finally settled down in Plano, Texas with my oldest sister and brother-in-law. I've lived there ever since. I have been naturalized as a citizen of the United States of America in April, 2002.
The Foreign Kid
It wasn't exactly the best thing to walk into a highschool surrounded by a bunch of ignorant kids that spoke a different language from your own, but I managed to pull out of it and somewhat assimulated with an extremely short period of time. It wasn't till when I get into college did people say that my accent was undetectable. However, being bilangual put me in a disadvantage - I wasn't really adept at either languages, and as the chinese old saying puts it, I'm just "half a barrel of water".

The Amateur Violinist
I showed my interest in picking up an instrument at 8th grade, and it was the violin. It was a relatively quick process for me, since I started playing for my highschool's string orchestra from 9th grade to 11th grade, and had made the all region orchestra in a rather competitive region during 10th grade. However, partly due to a busy work schedule, and partly due to the depreciation of my practicing at home, I had ceased to play the instrument. However, I have learned lots of theory and skills throughout the experience, and have met my dear friend that still sticks around, whose name's Steve Hsu.

The Composer
It wasn't until I started with my contact of midi softwares and midi synthesizers had I began to get completely preoccupied with music compositions all over again. I started writing my first piece in the year of 1996 (15 years old) and finished it in a mere few days. Midi had made my composing life a lot easier and helped with my early "trial and error" music. Up to this very day, I still haven't had any music theory class nor any formal education of music composition what so ever. It was midi devices that had allowed me to self-teach composition.

Breadwinner
During high school, I had gone through weeks that I would have regular high school classes from 8 till 4 and work at a grocery store or a fast food restaurant for 40+ hours a week, because I never really did care for the high school education. It was great that I had made my own money largely for all car insurance and half of my college tuition needs, but I really didn't have much fun in high school. I remember nightmares of hearing the beeping code from the grocery checkout lane or dreams about serving people ice cream at the drive thru window. I was stuck with these two jobs for about 2 years.

You know you need to quit your job when you realized that you can make one of these suckers in 10 seconds, and a whole banana split in 30 |
