NEWS: WHAT'S GOING ON IN MY LITTLE CORNER OF THE WORLD

My take on what's going on in the world: Because there aren't enough opinions on the net.

NOTE - 01/26/04 Obviously this page hasn't been updated in over a year. Hopefully we'll be getting back into the swing of things soon.

TRENT LOTT'S TRUE COLORS

Proving once again that the rug glue has penetrated into his brain, Trent Lott showed his "true colors" in a speech given during a party honoring 100 year old Senator and Good Ole Boy Strom Thurmond.

From CNN.com:

"During last week's birthday party -- which often resembled a roast of Thurmond -- Lott noted that his home state was one of four Thurmond carried in his 1948 campaign, which strongly opposed integration.
"We're proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn't have had all these problems over all these years either," Lott said."

Thurmond ran for the president in 1948, on the segregationist Dixiecrat ticket. During a campaign speech he made at the time, Thurmond once made the comment that he would not allow the "nigger race" into traditionally white establishments and institutions.

Lott has apologized for his remarks, saying that he went "too far", and got "carried away".
Frankly, I think Lott is full of it. There is no doubt in my mind that he knew what Turmond's racist patform was. He's not apologizing because he feels he was wrong, he is trying desperately to do damage control because he accidentally let his "true colors" slip out.

Lott had made a similar statement regarding Thurmond in 1980.
