Rose's Deck Dress: Research
Rose's Deck Dress is a one-piece antique white and yellow gold dress with gold embroidery and matching belt. She wears this costume with vintage shoes and dangly drop pearl earrings. There are some fantastic sites online that have already researched the gowns from Titanic - check out the links included below.
Dress - The bodice of the dress is antique white silk, embellished with scrolly dark gold embroidery on the shoulders, sleeves, and cuffs. The bodice features two layers: an overlayer with shorter 'sleeves' and an underlayer with long sleeves. The bodice has a V-neck with a small inset of the same fabric. The edges are trimmed with delicate scalloped lace. The skirt is of yellow gold silk (probably charmeuse), which is pulled up in the front and back with a strip of the same fabric, creating a draped effect.
Belt & Buckle - The belt is made of the same yellow gold fabric as the dress skirt. It attaches in the back, probably with hooks and eyes. The buckle is a dark gold, shaped almost like a flower, and the fabric belt 'laces' through the open front. The belt buckle is further embellished with stones or jewels of some sort.
Accessories & Shoes - Rose wears dangly pearl and gold earrings with a gold chain necklace that hangs low. Her shoes are from the same material as the belt and dress skirt (golden yellow silk) with matching fabric rossettes on the toes.
