Snow White's Princess Gown & Cape: Research
Snow White's Princess Gown features a two-tone dress with parti-colored sleeves and a white standing collar. The bodice is navy blue with a scoop-square neckline and gold detailing down center front. This trim is repeated at the waist and the same color also bands the sleeve hems. The sleeves are a more royal blue color with red tear-drop inserts spaced at intervals, creating an overall puffed shape. The white standing collar has no visible seam lines nor means of attachment, and spans from the back neck to the shoulder seams of the bodice. The A-line skirt is pale yellow and she wears a white petticoat underneath, which is visible when she is running from the woodsman and dancing with the dwarves at the cottage. Her shoes are bone-colored heels with matching bows. Her cape reaches mid-thigh and is dark red with a lighter red lining. It fastens in front with a square red buckle/button. She wears a matching red bow in her hair.
Note: The final two pictures show the licensed child Snow White costume with apple purse (cute!) and the licensed (out of print) Simplicity pattern. I liked the idea of an apple shaped purse and the pattern picture gave me a good idea of silhouette and shape for a three dimensional costume.
