My second time in France was part a semester abroad program that I enrolled in while at Vanderbilt.  Initially, I tried to enroll in the Vanderbilt program in Aix-en-Provence, but didn't get in because of my grades in French.  I was a solid C student.  I was able to get into another program which ran institutes in both Aix-en-Provence and Avignon.  I wasn't allowed to study at the program's Aix-en-Provence center so I went to the program in Avignon which was geared towards French majors, ie people much better than I in French.  I managed to work my 15 hours of classtime into 3 days a week which left me 4 days a week to travel.  I only spent one weekend in Avignon for the rest of the semester.
