| Chapter 10 Emily was sitting beside Lucky. They were having their own conversation without uttering a word to the other. Suddenly the door burst opened and BJ walked in with a big smile on her face. �We won!� she said hugging but Emily and Lucky. Lucky patted his cousin on the back when they embraced. �What did the judge say?� Emily asked. �He said if Lucas and I didn�t want to be our father we didn�t have to be. He wasn�t cutting Tony out of our life but he was leaving up to us when and how we see him. Bobbie and Stefan are now our fully our legal guardians,� BJ said smiling brightly. �Good!� Lucky said smiling happily. �Hold it?� BJ said realizing that her cousin just spoke. �When did this happen?� �He said something to Alex and then things slowly started to get better. He can�t be a chatterbox but from the looks of things he his going to get better,� Emily said. She was so happy when she heard that Lucky was getting better. This was the only spot in her life right now. BJ screamed and hugged Lucky. �About time,� she said hugging her cousin. Lucky smiled and lay there listening as the two girls chatted on. ****************************************** Tony and Felicia arrived home alone that afternoon. He sat down the couch and picked up a picture of Lucas and BJ. �I guess you can�t fight the money the Cassadines have,� Tony said running his finger over BJ�s picture. �You didn�t loose all the way. You can see them,� Felicia said trying to cheer Tony up. �Yeah, right. They don�t want see me. BJ can�t stand me and Lucas, well he doesn�t know me. That is all my fault. I shouldn�t walked out on them,� Tony said placing the picture face down on the table. �You didn�t walk out on them. They understand some day why this all happen. You just have to keep holding on,� Felicia said hugging Tony close to her. ****************************************** Edward�s day went from bad to worse. When he got up the press were out in droves. They were about the gate all trying to get a word with a member of his family. �What�s going on?� Edward asked his driver. �The paper sir,� the driver said leaning over and handed his boss the afternoon paper. Edward looked at the headline and growled. �Damn them!� Edward slammed the paper down beside him. The headline read. �ELQ�s young executive�s dark past and sexual past. The story went on to talk about Ned�s past as a playboy. It even pointed out that Monica and Ned are more then just related by marriage but that the couple was once lovers! ************************************ Monica heard about the paper about that same time. She was looking over one of her patient�s files when she sat the headlines lying right on top of the desk. Monica grabbed the paper and read it. �Oh, no,� she said closing her eyes her heart full of pain. She never told Alan about Ned and her. She also knew that Ned never told Lois about them either. Monica had a feeling of dread about all of this. She quickly went to the nearest pay phone and called Ned. His phone didn�t pick up and that meant he already heard about all of this. Monica�s next call was to Alan but when Alan heard her voice on the line. He hung up! Monica shook her head and tried to think of her next move. It came to her then to go warn Emily. Emily had been hurt about all this mess enough. She didn�t need to walk into some reporter to find out that her mother slept with Ned. Monica knew right where to find Emily. She knew that Emily was planning to spend the day with Lucky. Monica walked on to the elevator to go to Lucky�s floor and was surprised to find Robert in the elevator. �Hi,� Monica said trying to smile at Robert. �I read the paper. You don�t have to pretend anything. I�m sorry,� Robert said smiling at her sadly. �Thanks,� Monica said. Robert placed a hand on her shoulder and smiled at her. �It�s ok. Alan will forgive you,� Robert said. �I don�t know. This might destroy the rest of our marriage. Things haven�t been that great over the past few months,� Monica admitted. �Keep working at it. I�m sure he still loves you,� Robert said sadly. �Could you forgive Anna if she lied to you one more time?� Monica asked. When Robert didn�t answer her Monica said, �Thought so!� ********************************************** Later on Emily and Monica walked down the halls of the hospital. �I�m sorry to interrupt your time with Lucky but I thought you would want to hear about this,� Monica said trying to figure out how to start this. Emily looked at her mother and asked, �What�s going on now?� Monica smiled sadly and said, �Part of my past came out. I want to be the one to tell you about it. I didn�t want you to hear it from anyone else.� �Ok, what is it?� Emily asked, all this time being Quartermaine nothing surprised Emily any more or so she thought. �Back before you came to live with us. During the time Alan and I were in the middle of one trouble spots. I went to a place to spa. I met a young tennis pro and we kind of hit off. As time went on, things got personal but in the end things cooled off. I went my way and he went his. It wasn�t until I was back home again that I found out about this tennis pro. You see, Emily I didn�t tell this young man who I was and didn�t tell me,� Monica said trying to dig down deep within her to finish all of this. �Who was it?� Emily asked. �Ned.� Monica said and she stopped walking and waited for Emily�s reaction. �Ned? Ned Ashton?� Emily asked trying hard to take this all in but it wasn�t easy for her. She never knew that her mother and Ned had once been lovers! Monica nodded and said, �It was that one time. We never told anyone the truth because we didn�t think it was their business. Now thought it looks like the Cassadine�s found out,� Monica said sadly. Emily looked at her mother and asked, �What does Dad think of all of this?� �I don�t know. He hung up on me,� Monica said. �Great. This all you need,� Emily said walking towards the window looking out towards the city. Monica placed a loving hand on Emily�s shoulder and said, �Honey, if this destroys my marriage to your father. It isn�t your fault. We were falling part way before this,� Monica told her. Emily turned to Monica and said, �I know but it would help. I wish I had written those words down. I knew that Lucky trusted me with his family�s darkest secrets. I should have kept them inside but I didn�t! We are all paying for it now!� Emily said her frustration about all this grew more and more at every passing moment. ********************************************* Mikkos went back to Spoon Island. Stefan was there working on digging up more information about the Quartermaine�s. He looked up at his father and asked, �Get chased out?� Mikkos glared at his son and said, �Yes, your wife thought it was time for me to go home. How is things going with the research?� Stefan looked down briefly at what he was writing and said, �It is coming. I heard from Uncle Victor that Carly�s plan worked. Edward is no longer a member of the hospital board.� �Yes, that work out our favor. It hurt Edward and gave us more power on the board,� Mikkos said as he sat down in his favorite chair. �Now, tell me what you found out!� Stefan was hoping his father wouldn�t have asked again but it looked like he still hadn�t lost anything. Stefan took a few deep breaths and said, �Edward has a dark secret. He has kept it from his family all this time. This secret could destroy them completely if it is done right.� �What�s the secret?� Mikkos asked. �Here. Read it!� Stefan said handing a file over to his father. Mikkos looked at the file and smiled. �I have him,� Mikkos said grinning with a cold evil smile on his face. Stefan just sat there shaking his head at his father wishing that he would give up this fight with the Quartermaines. *********************************************** Edward after being shoved out off the hospital board and now facing another crises with his family was sick of waiting around for AJ�s reporter friend to print her next story. He decided to get some dirt on the Cassadine family on his own and shove it in Mikkos� face. Edward was on the phone with his PI. �No, I don�t care how many man hours it takes or what this is going to cost me. You get on this matter right away. I want as much information about Mikkos and that family of his as you can get. Oh, and I wanted it yesterday!� Edward said slamming then phone down. Lila wheeled into the room right then and said, �Don�t you think this has gone far enough?� Edward turned around and said his voice laced with anger. �No, for me it hasn�t gone far enough. This news story or this trash as you want to call it was it for me. It is time to stop playing games with Mikkos and bring the war to him. He or a member close to him has to have a dirty secret that will get this town off of us and back on the Cassadines where it belongs!� Lila sat in her chair shaking her head at her husband.
