Chapter 9 Robert flew to DC. Where he had to talk with the Director of the FBI with an old boss of his. It didn�t take long for the director of the FBI to start to sweat. He called in Ford and Larken. They two started to worry. They both glad to take Robert to see the Spencer and if Luke, Laura and Roy wanted to go home. They could. No charges! No trouble! Robert couldn�t help but laugh. It was amazing how many favors you get when you save the world. Since Luke and Laura both helped him on that case, Robert�s old boss was glad to point out that he had friends in high places that would look down on seeing two hero treated like in this manner. Roy was just a second thought to any of them but they didn�t want to push things. So, they were willing to let him go as well. Better then safe then sorry! At the house in Virginia, Laura was outside watching the sky. It looked like it was going to snow again. That is when she spotted Ford�s car coming down the lane. �Luke, Roy,� Laura called over her shoulder. Luke, Roy and Zander walked outside and Luke muttered, �Looks like the vacation�s over with.� �Yeah,� Roy said not to happy about seeing Ford or Larken. The car stopped and the three men inside got out. Luke and Laura one look at Robert and celebrate. They rushed to the man greeting him warmly. �Hey, mate,� Luke said glad to see his best friend. What made him even happier was the soar look on Ford and Larken�s face. �Robert,� Laura said giving a kiss. �What brings you here?� Robert smiled and said, �I go a visitor earlier this morning. He said Luke was dead and Laura was in prison. I had to go digging for the truth.� �Lucky!� Both and Luke and Laura said at the same time. �Where is he?� Laura asked in a hopeful voice. Robert smiled at Laura and said, �He is safe and fine at my house. It seems he ran into trouble with Frank�s son Damion. I didn�t think it was wise bring him along.� �Thank, God,� Laura prayed grateful to here that her son was alive. �Come on, let�s go inside. You can fill us in the rest in there,� Luke said and the group headed inside. Robert told Luke and Laura the story Lucky had told them. Laura cried a bit just thinking about the pain son went through thinking that she was locked up and Luke dead. �But he is ok now?� Luke asked. �Yeah, he is fine,� Robert said. Laura at this moment started looking at Ford and Larken. She glared at Ford and asked, �You knew didn�t you?� Ford nodded his head and looked away. Laura got up and slapped Ford hard across the face. �You lying bastard. I spent years thinking my son was dead!� Laura cried. Larken being the fool he was grabbed Laura�s arm and said, �Lady�� He didn�t finish. Luke had crossed the room grabbed Larken�s arm and broke it as he twisted it behind the guy�s back. Larken screamed in pain as Luke shoved the man face down crashing his head into the table. �You ever touch my wife again. I�ll kill you!� Luke threatened as he shoved the man halfway across the kitchen. Larken didn�t say a word. He just lurked away holding his arm and trying to stop the bleeding from his mouth. Roy couldn�t help but smile and Robert didn�t pity the guy too much. He figured he earned after what Ford and him did to Laura and Luke. Luke checked out Laura then said, �Take, let�s go to our kid.� Laura smiled and kissed him. She wanted to see Lucky and she wouldn�t be happy until she did! ******************************** Anna came home earlier that day. She had talked to Ruby, Amy, Bobbie and Leslie updated them on Lucky and his parents at least all she knew at the time. They all wanted to come over and see Lucky but Anna thought it would be best if they would wait until Luke and Laura were found. She didn�t think Lucky was ready for a mob raid from his family just yet. They reluctant agreed if Anna promised to have Luke or Laura to call them as soon as they got home. When Anna walked into the house, she found Robin, Lucky, Carly and Jason sitting around the table playing cards. �You�re cheating,� Robin said to Lucky as he put his cards down. Lucky just smiled and took the pot. �Playing poker?� Anna asked noticing the pennies in front of the kids. �More like getting our butts beat,� Jason said wondering how Lucky was doing it. Anna looked at Lucky and asked, �Your father taught you how to play poker didn�t he?� �Yeah,� Lucky said smiling brightly. �Stay away from your grandfather,� Anna advised Lucky and she left them alone to play cards. Lucky looked at Robin and asked, �What did that mean?� Robin smiled and said, �Leslie married Mike Corbin a few mouths ago. He has a small gambling problem.� �There is no such thing as a small gambling problem,� Jason said coldly. He had a foster father that had gambled all the money he had then came home to beat his wife and all of the kids. Jason had no use for people that couldn�t control their urge to gamble. �Yeah, well. Leslie loves him and no one has been able to tell her that nothing will change him,� Robin said sadly. �That sounds familiar,� Lucky said smiling brightly. Her mother told him a long time ago that people tried to get her to dump her father because they never understood him. Lucky had a feeling his grandmother was a lot like her mother and saw something in this Mike guy that no one else did. No one commented they just went on playing their game. Anna was in the kitchen when the phone rang. �Hello?� Anna said as she picked up. �Yeah, just a minute. �Lucky, your mother insists on talking to you!� Lucky was in the kitchen in a flash leaving the kitchen door swinging behind him. �MOM!� Lucky yelled.
