Chapter 4 Luke and Laura spent five days checking out Roy and his comings and goings. Luke finally had a plan on taking out Roy. Laura didnt like it because mainly Luke left her out of it. Luke, dont do this alone, Laura begged as Luke checked out the gun one more time. Luke turned to his wife and begged, Angel, dont make this any harder then it already is. I have to go kill a man that was once one of my best friends in the world. Im looking forward to it. So, for make sake, I want you to say here and wait for me. Laura sighed and said sadly, I wish there was another way. There isnt. If we dont do this, then we will never see our son again, Luke said as hid the gun underneath his jacket the leaned over and kissed his wife. Ill be back. I promise. You better, Laura said fighting the tears as she watched as Luke walked out of the room. Laura waited for five minutes then she grabbed her coat and went after him. She didnt know why but something told her that this wasnt going to go off as Luke planned. She had to be there to make sure she didnt loose him in the process. ************************************* Luke watched as Roy left his girlfriends house late that night. He hated what he was about to do. This one of the reasons, Luke was going to do it face to face. He didnt feel right hiding behind a bush and shot Roy in the back. He wanted to make sure that at least Roy knew why it was happening. He owed the guy that much or that is how Luke saw things. He sat in the car watching as Roy headed down the street towards his apartment. Luke drove past and hit the car in an alley then he waited. Roy walked past him like he no worries in the world that was when Luke struck. Luke walked up behind Roy shoved a gun in his back and said, Dont move DiLucca. Luke? Roy said turning around shocked to his old friend standing there holding a gun on him. Yeah, its me, Luke said feeling very small all of sudden. Whats this? Roy asked pointing at the gun. Luke shrugged and said, Lets just say Frank found a way for me to carry out a job for him. Luke then motioned for Roy to go back the alley were the car was hidden. Roy didnt fight Luke. He didnt know why but then maybe it was look in Lukes face. He never believed that Luke could actually kill him. Luke and Roy drove to the train yards where Luke and found spot to do the job. As Roy drove the car, he asked. Why? Luke looked at his friend and said, Nothing personal but Frank took something from me that is more important then my own life. I have no choice. Laura? Hey, if he has your wife. Ill help you find her. You dont do this, Roy said trying to turn and look Luke in the eye but Luke was sitting behind him. There was no for him to do that and drive as well. Not Laura, Luke said sadly. Bobbie? Roy said dreading the idea of Bobbie being in the hands of men that worked for Frank Smith. No, he has my kid. It is either your life or his. Sorry, Roy but you loose. I cant loose Lucky, Luke said and Roy heard the pain in Lukes voice. He knew it wasnt an easy decision for him to make but Roy knew if it was the other way around. He would make the same choice. Your kid was more important then anything. More important then youre own life! Neither one talked after that point. What was there to say? Roy could fight for his life but then take out his best friend because he knew Luke was ready to do for his son. Thinking of Laura and Lukes son in the hands of men that worked for Frank turned Roy stomach. He didnt think he could fight not hard enough to save his own life. So, he drove on heading for his death. They got the to the train yard where Luke and Roy walked into the dark shadows of the place. No one was around. No one would hear the shot or that is what Luke hopped. He looked at Roy and said, I wish there was another way. There might be, Roy said suddenly thinking of the FBI. Did he have enough power in the organization to save a kid? Did they have enough to offer Ford and Larken? I have been working for the FBI that is what Im doing here now. What if I go to them and ask them to help you? I dont know where the kid is. I dont even know how has him. What if they get wind of this and they hurt my son. Im sorry Roy but I cant take that chance, Luke said and he aimed the gun at Roy. Dont Luke! Laura cried out coming out of the shadows. She seen Roy and heard what he said. She realized that maybe there was another way. Angel, what are you doing here, Luke said not turning to look at his wife. Laura heard the anger and frustration in his voice but she walked forward anyway. Luke, maybe he can help us. Maybe it doesnt have to end like this. Are you willing to risk Luckys life? Luke asked her. He didnt if he was. He didnt know if he could live with himself. Are you willing to live with Roys blood on your hands? Laura asked looking at Luke with tears in her eyes. Roy saw the gun down just a bit and he said, Luke, I know how you feel. I have my son with me. I would think about doing the same thing you are right now but trust me man. I might be able help. Luke looked at Roy and realized he wasnt lying. He did have his son with him. Bobbie and Roys son! The boy that Bobbie gave up because she thought Roy was dead. Luke suddenly realized that Roy had his life. He wouldnt have Laura or Lucky if it werent for Roy. So, risking it all. Luke started to lower the gun that was when the shot rang out. Laura scared and looked at Luke. Luke was stunned and the gun dropped out of hand. He then fell right into his wife arms. Laura put her hands around Luke then she felt it. The blood seeping through Lukes back. Laura scared blood murder as she slowly lowered Luke to the ground. Roy rushed to his friend side pulling his gun and looked around for a sign of the attacker. Then he saw them. Agents Ford and Larken walking out of the shadows heading towards them. Larkens gun still smoking. He wasnt going to shot! Roy yelled fight the urge to fire back. He hated Larken now more then ever. Not for anything Larken ever did to him but what he did to his best friend. Laura was crying as she held on to Luke as the blood slowly flowed from his body.
