Chapter 24

Mrs. Landsbury and the other members of Bobbie and Stefan�s staff woke up early Thanksgiving morning. Laura sent Mrs. Carlson over to help, who had brought along her two daughters were where visiting her this holiday.

The smells coming from the kitchen woke Stefan around eight. He tried several times to go back to sleep but finally gave up on it. He showered and dressed then headed down for breakfast.

Stefan walked into the kitchen for his morning coffee. He had tried to pot in the breakfast room but found it empty. He figured that the cook was to fill it. He would help himself. What Stefan didn�t realize what kind of mess he was walking into!

The cook and her staff were rushing around the kitchen busy making getting ready for the afternoon meal. �Morning,� Stefan said cheerfully. Stefan was ignored. People just kept on rushing around him busy at what they were doing. Stefan stood there wondering what to do. He had no idea how to make his own coffee and really wasn�t in the mood to tempt it. He decided to wait for Bobbie and maybe she could get him a cup. He knew better to disturb the cook while she was cooking. He had done that once and lived to regret it. He wasn�t about to it again.

Lucky went for a run this morning. He needed it to prepare himself for this afternoon. He wasn�t looking forward in spending the day with the Quartermaines. Oh, he loves the idea with Emily but he could live without the others. Lucky always wondered if Emily thought the same thing about his family. He just never guts to ask her.

Lucky was running down by the docks when he spotted Zander running with a young red head. Lucky assumed right away that this young woman was his new Aunt Kristina. Lucky ran up to them and smiled happily. �Hey, looking forward to dinner?�

�No,� Kristina said bluntly.

Lucky laughed and said, �Don�t worry you will not be alone. Not a lot of us want to spend the day with the Quartermaines.�

Zander smiled as he said, �Lucky, it isn�t the Quartermaines she is worried about.�

�You can�t be scared of can us?� Lucky said smiling his best charming smile.

�You�re the crown prince?� Kristina said suddenly realizing whom she was talking to.

�Yep, I�m him. Nice to meet you,� Lucky said stopping and holding out his hand to Kristina.

�Nice to meet you,� Kristina said shaking Lucky�s hand.

Lucky smiled and said, �Don�t worry. I know it isn�t easy finding out you are a Cassadine.� He started to run again.

�I heard part of this story. Mikkos told me that your father wasn�t happy about finding out he was one either,� Kristina said running beside Lucky.

�That is the understatement of the century. My father before he learned that who he was, hated, despised and wanted eliminate every Cassadine on the planet,� Lucky said.

�Your joking right?� Kristina said thinking the teen was pulling her leg.

�No, I�m not joking. Dad hated all of them including Mikkos. You see besides trying to freeze the world, Stavors kidnapped my mother and kept her prisoner for two years and Helena tried to turn me into a human torch. Dad didn�t take any of this too well. He really take being a Cassadine to well either,� Lucky said trying not to laugh.

�Lucky, you are scaring her off,� Zander said giving the teen a cold hard look.

�Come on, Zander. She has to learn the truth sometimes besides that is the past. We are past all of that. Stavors and Helena are dead along with all the hate that once over took this family. All we are at this moment is a normal family trying to survive this crazy world,� Lucky said grinning.

�I wouldn�t go that far,� Zander said shaking his head at Lucky�s sense of humor.

�You two have a very bad sense of humor,� Kristina said shaking her head in disgust at the both of them.

Lucky looked at Kristina and said, �You have to laugh or this life drives you crazy. Look, we aren�t perfect. This family has some very dark secrets but I will tell you this. We all love each other and we stand by each other. Give us a chance and I bet we will soon grow on you.�

Carly and Jason had one trip to make before going to Bobbie and Stefan�s this day. Carly�s doctor made an exception for Carly and went to the hospital. He needed to see her face and see how bad the scars were before they could proceed in surgery.

Carly sat on the examining table as her doctor turned her face to one side then the other. �This isn�t to bad. The cuts were clean and Doctor Quartermaine made sure to use small stitches. I say this will not be no trouble covering up,� the doctor told Carly as he turned off the extra light he had been using.

�So, we are still on for the first of the year?� Carly asked the doctor.

�Oh, yes and in fact I don�t think you will need to even have a stay in the hospital. We can do this all in one day,� the doctor told Carly smiling.

�I like that idea,� Jason said hugging his wife.

�So, will our kids,� Carly said thinking of the twins. They were still a little upset that she was going back into the hospital. Neither one of them liked it when she was hurt the last time. It really scared them. Carly didn�t want to make matters worse for them and figured doing this all in one day sounded the best way to do it.

�Well, I�ll see you after the first,� the doctor said as Carly hopped down off the table.

Carly and Jason were leaving the hospital a little bit later when they ran into Amy. �Hi,� Carly said smiling at the nurse.

�Hi, going to Bobbie�s?� Amy asked smiling.

�As soon as we pick up the kids,� Jason said. �Will we see you there?�

�I wish but all I want to do is go home after work. This shift has been a real killer and I�m dead tired,� Amy said and she walked off to get back to work. Carly and Jason walked on towards the elevators and headed down the parking garage.

Scott and Serena stood near the Gate 16. Serena jumped up and down looking around for to familiar looking faces. In fact, she spotted them before Scott did. Serena suddenly took off running and screaming. �Lance. Holly,� she cried as she leaped into Holly�s arms.

�Hi, sweet heart,� Holly said hugging the child. �Enjoy your time with Grandma Gail and Grandpa Lee?�

�Yeah, it was great but I missed you both a lot,� Serena said leaning over and kissing Lance on the cheek.

�I missed you too,� Lance said hugging Serena.

�I hope I was missed,� Scott said as he walked up to join the group.

�I missed you,� Holly said leaning forward kissing her husband.

�Oh, I missed you a lot,� Lance said but the teen didn�t sound like he did.

Scott gave his stepson a look but then dropped it. He just took his wife�s carry on bag and said, �Lets go. Gail wants us back before noon.� Holly Sutton-Baldwin took her husband�s other hand and they walked on with the two kids behind them. Serena Baldwin and Lance Sutton.

�So, do you think we are going to have turkey this year?� Al asked his father, as they got ready.

�I hope so or next year we are going back to Landview for the holiday,� Max said as they left there wing of the Quartermaine house and headed down stairs to get ready to leave with the rest of the family.

Across the way, BJ was fighting stomach flu of some kind. She hadn�t felt that great in the last few days. She hadn�t told her mother yet but she was about to give in. She just couldn�t deal with this feeling much longer.

BJ left her room and headed downstairs. She found her mother in the kitchen. The smell of the food almost made her sick right there. �You ok?� Bobbie asked seeing that BJ turned a little green all of sudden.

�I think so. I just don�t feel that great today,� BJ admitted.

Bobbie rested her hand on BJ�s head and said, �Well, you don�t have a fever but that doesn�t mean you aren�t getting anything. Try to watch who drinks out of your drink and if you really love Josh. I wouldn�t kiss him either. Honey, you don�t want him to get sick.�

�I�ll be good,� BJ said smiling and she went to make sure that the living room was picked up. Anything was better then hanging out in the kitchen at this moment. She just couldn�t take the smell of the food any longer.

Bobbie watched her go worrying about her for a moment then she was forced to get back to the days meal. Because of Monica stories of how easy it is for a Quartermaine dinner to get destroyed. Bobbie had ordered two turkeys just in case.

�Luke, why did you make poor Mrs. Carlson bake two turkeys?� Laura asked looking at the bird that was sitting between them.

�Laura, I heard enough tails of Quartermaine Thanksgivings from Lucky to know it isn�t safe to have dinner with them. I�m not eating pizza or take out food not this day. So, I�m not taking any chance. I�m bring my own bird!� Luke said patting the platter with the turkey on it. Laura just sat there shaking her head and looking at her husband in wonderment.

Tracy, her son Dylan, Edward, Lila, Max, his twins and Al all arrived together at Bobbie and Stefan�s house. BJ was the one to open the door. BJ took one look at Dylan and cringed. �Hi,� BJ said trying to sound pleasant but she wasn�t happy. Her mother had avoided telling her that the creep was invited.

�Hi,� Dylan said walking to BJ and almost kissing her.

But BJ backed away and said, �I wouldn�t I�m not that hot.�

Al laughed and whispered into Dylan ear as he shoved on past. �Strike one!� Dylan just glared at Al and walked inside.

�Are we the first to arrive?� Lila asked sweetly as Edward pushed her inside the room.

�Yes you are but the others should be on their way,� BJ said as she showed the guests into the living room where drinks and before dinner snacks awaited them.

Sonny and Alexis arrived about the same time as AJ, Courtney and Mike. �Grandpa,� Tasha yelled running towards Mike. Sonny just growled and took the extra turkey he brought out the limo.

�Be have,� Alexis warned him.

�For Lila,� Sonny said coldly and he took the extra turkey towards the back.

Courtney walked up to Alexis and asked, �He still upset?�

�He will be for awhile. Sonny doesn�t forgive easy and I can�t blame him. I mean Deke a real good number on him. Sonny needed someone to hate and he couldn�t hate his mother. So, he turned against Mike,� Alexis said sadly as she took out Tasha bag.

�I understand,� Courtney said sadly and she went to AJ so they could go inside together. Mike walked behind them with Tasha in his arms. Alexis was next. She was hoping that Sonny would behave himself and not start anything with Mike. She wasn�t in the mood to break between her husband and his father.

Mikkos and Ruby were next. Mikkos had his driver take the turkey that his cook made today around back. While Ruby and him walked towards the front door, �Mikkos, I still do not understand why you had our cook make a turkey. Bobbie will have one,� Ruby said puzzled.

Mikkos smiled and said, �I listen to Bobbie and you talk enough to know that the Quartermaines never eat on Thanksgiving in their lives. I do not eat Pizza and I will not eat Pizza. This day or any day! Now, I am going to have Turkey even if you have to biggest nut cases on the planet for dinner.�

�I think it is a tie,� Ruby said smiling and they went on inside. Mikkos glared at her but he had to admit she was right. They weren�t saints but they weren�t like the Quartermaines either!

Johnny and Josh pulled up just about the same time as Robert did. �Hi, Johnny,� Robert said and he climbed out of the car.

�Tell me again why we go to dinner with these people?� Johnny asked Robert as he closed the door of his car.

�I don�t know myself but I thought your brother liked BJ and wants to be part of the family,� Robert said winking at Josh. Johnny grumbled and they started walking. Luke and his family arrived at this time and they three waited for the Spencer�s to get out.

�Hi, Mate,� Robert said to Luke noticing that Luke was wearing a medal leg brace on his bad leg.

�No comments,� Luke said to Robert as he forced his knee straight so he could walk better.

�I�m saying a word,� Robert said walking up to give Laura a kiss on the cheek.

�Where�s your date?� Laura asked Robert.

�We broke up. The long distant thing didn�t work out. I find someone some day,� Robert said sadly.

�While you are at it find a girl for my brother,� Josh said teasing.

�You stay out of my love live,� Johnny said.

�What love life?� Josh asked as he helped Lucky take their extra turkey into the kitchen.

�He is spending to much time with your son,� Johnny said to Luke.

�Why is it always my fault?� Luke asked as they walked into the house.

�I don�t know,� Laura said laughing. Robert was laughing as well because he knew his best friend and knew Luke was born with two things, a mouth and a temper! Both of them most of the time got Luke into a hell of a lot of trouble.

Lucky and Josh walked into the kitchen with their turkey. �What doesn�t trust me?� the cook asked seeing the turkey.

Lucky smiled and said, �Cook, it isn�t you we don�t trust. It is Edward and his family.� Lucky gave the cook a kiss and then went to BJ.

Mrs. Carlson smiled and said, �I agree. We heard the stories on what it is like working for Edward on thanksgiving.�

�Yes, I heard them,� the cook said eyeing the birds. She didn�t all these turkeys but then again he might have help for some of the Cassadines.
