Chapter Forty Five

Alexis was in her office working on some paperwork and Stefan walked in and sat
down. �Alexis, We need to talk. I just talked to Lucky and he has agreed to have
tutors. I have a list of names for you to check out.� Stefan said laying a paper
on her desk.

�How did you do that? I have tried for weeks to get him to agree but he kept
telling me no.� Alexis said.

�I think it was more my timing then anything else. Lucky must have had a rough
couple of weeks at school from what he told me.� Stefan said.

�He doesn�t talk to me at all about school. I try but he just says fine and goes
to his room.� Alexis said looking at Stefan in amazement.

�I think it helps that I�m not involved with a battle with Luke right now. You
and Laura must have done a lot of yelling to each other about Lucky. You might
not have realized it but using him as a tool to get to the other did more damage
then good.� Stefan told her.

�I know and thanks. I�m new at being a parent. Could you help not mess up any
more. I didn�t realize everything that was involved. Ned and I try but we
haven�t raised a teenager.� Alexis said.

�I will do my best at least for the future of this family. Like it or not Lucky
Spencer is the last of the Cassadines.� Stefan said.

�Luke was right when he said �Mikkos would be turning over in his grave.� I
would love to see his face right about now.� Alexis said with a smile.

�My father would have died of a heart attack. Alexis, have you heard anything
more about Victor, Stavros, or Helena?� Stefan asked.

�No. Luke and the others are keeping me in the dark. Luke just says that he will
keep me informed on the situation and hangs up on me. Stefan that man is getting
to me. I can�t protect Lucky if they don�t keep me up to date. I put up with
Jason�s men because Lucky likes Johnny and Charlie but this has gone to far. I
hate to ask but maybe you can get more from him then I could.� Alexis said.

�I will get the information for you. Lucky is too important to this family for
use to be in the dark.� Stefan said.

�Stefan, a word of advice, don�t use that sentence to Luke. You might get
killed.� Alexis warned him.

�I am not backing down from Spencer. I put up with Nikolas changing his name and
spending a lot of time with Luke but this is important to the future of this
family and Luke just going to except it.� Stefan said and walked out of the
room.

�I hope this is going to work. Lucky has been through enough with the press and
me and Laura. He doesn�t need Luke and Stefan going at it.� Alexis thought and
started to make the arrangements on Lucky�s education.

Later that day, Stefan walked into Luke�s office and the Club and sat down in
the chair. Luke was waiting for his arrival and wasn�t surprised to see him. He
did expect him sooner. �What do you want Cassadine?� Luke asked.

�We need to talk about Lucky.� Stefan said.

That got Luke�s attention. He was expecting a conversation about Nikolas and him
changing his name but not Lucky. �What about Lucky?� Luke demanded.

�He is the heir of the Cassadine family and you have to except it.� Stefan said.

�I don�t have to except anything. He is Alexis� son and that is it. Lucky is a
Spencer not a Cassadine. The only reason he is even living with her is because
my wife didn�t let things go and the courts got involved. Cassadine keep your
family out of it. Lucky has enough to deal with because of your family. Victor
tried to kill him and your darling mother wants to stick her claws in him. I�m
not letting that happen. So, stay out of it.� Luke warned.

�I am involved whether you like it or not. Luke, I know what you feel about me
but listen to reason. Lucky to my mother and Stavros is only a tool to control
the family. They get him and they have everything. Lucky is in danger and we
have to keep him safe. The more we know the better he is protected. I agreed to
let Nikolas decided on his own about you, let Lucky do the something about the
Cassadines. I will tell you know before you think Alexis or I are working behind
your back, Lucky agreed to be tutored only because of the pressure in school. I
know you thought it was only temporary but it is not permanent. You know the
power the Cassadine family controls, let it work to keep him safe.� Stefan said.

Luke sat back in his chair and thought about it for a long time. When he spoke
it was slow and deliberate. �Cassadine. I don�t like it but you are right. I�m
not like Laura. I know fighting you will only pull Lucky away from me and take
Nikolas with him, but I�m warning you anything happens to Lucky because of your
Family and I will end your life.� Luke eyes were burning with hate.

Stefan didn�t doubt him one moment and they talked about the location of Stavros
and Helena. Stefan learned that they were on the way back to Port Charles and
everyone was waiting for their arrival. Luke house was all most done and Lucky
could move in at the end of the week. Stefan did not like the idea but was not
going to say anything. He was not sure Lucky would be save in that house. Stefan
was going to have to talk to Alexis on that part. Luke and him talk for awhile
longer and Stefan left to tell. Alexis what he found out. Luke watched him leave
and wonder if leaving him alive was such a very good idea. He didn�t trust
Stefan and most probably never will.

Nik walked in right then and asked, �What did he want?�

�He wanted to talk about Lucky.� Luke said.

�Lucky? Why?� Nik asked.

Luke told him about the conversation and Nik sat down in the chair hard. �I
think Lucky is in for an other fight but Stefan is going to sneaker about it
then Alexis was. Lucky might have to be warned on keeping his guard up. I love
Stefan but he does have a way of getting what he wants with out you knowing
about it.� Nik told Luke.

�He isn�t going to get Lucky. I will not let that happen. I agreed when you
changed your name that if Stefan did come back. I would let you decide on what
to do about him. I will keep my word, but I lied when about giving them a chance
to pull Lucky toward the Cassadines.� Luke said and got up to get a drink.

�You promise us you were going to stop.� Nik said as he purred the drink.

Luke looked at the glass and then Nik. He walked back to the chair and sat down
without the drink. �I said I wouldn�t drink when I�m upset. I will keep that
promise. You have any idea on what Stefan wants with Lucky?� Luke asked.

�The same as the others. He is the Cassadine heir and the only way to stop them
is to find away to gain control of the money yourself. Lucky will have a lot of
power when he is twenty-five and they want to control it until then. You have
one advantage and that is Lucky loves and trusted you the most. Don�t lie to him
or use him. Lucky is going to need a friend and before this is over an alley he
trusts completely.� Nik said.

�I agree. I am going to be a lot happier when Lucky is back under my roof at
least I know what is going on.� Luke said.

Stefan watched from the back ground as Lucky was with one of his tutors. Stefan
realized with a little more training and Lucky would be on the same level as
Nikolas. He does need to brush up on his Latin and Greek but the other subjects.
Lucky wasn�t too far behind.

�I think that is all for today, but I think you should spend some time to night
working on your Latin verbs and nouns before tomorrow�s quiz.� the tutor said.

�I will.� Lucky said and got up and headed outside for some fresh air. After
four hours working on his schoolwork nonstop had finally got to him. Johnny was
reading the paper and put it down when Lucky walked out on the deck. �You done.�
Johnny asked.

�Finally. Hay, you in mood for Ruby�s?� Lucky asked.

�Why not. I�ll got get Charlie and we will met you in the car in five minutes.�
Johnny said and got up to get Charlie.

Lucky headed up to his room to change his shirt and ran into Stefan who just got
done talking to the tutor. �Sorry, Stefan.� Lucky said.

�You could call me Uncle.� Stefan said.

�I don�t think so.� Lucky replied and started to go up the stairs.

�Why not?� Stefan asked.

�I wouldn�t feel comfortable with it.� Lucky said.

�I can live with that. Where you going?� Stefan asked him.

�I�m going to Ruby�s for lunch and don�t worry Johnny and Charlie are driving
me.� Lucky said.

�Can I join you?� Stefan asked.

�You want to go to Ruby�s for lunch. Stefan are feeling ok?� Lucky asked looking
at him a little strange.

�I am feeling fine. I just think we could get know each other better and have
lunch at the same time.� Stefan said.

�Ok.� Lucky said and ran up the stairs.
