Chapter Thirty Seven

Lucky ran down to the bottom of the hill without delay. He could smell something
burning and without delay, Lucky started pulling at the door of the car, trying
to yank it open. Johnny joined him and started to pull with him. They finally
got the door opened and quickly checked Luke out. He was still unconscious but
his pulse was strong. Lucky tried to undo the seat belt but it didn't budge.
Johnny pulled out his switchblade and cut Luke from the seat belt and then the
two of them gently lowered Luke to the ground and dragged him away from the car.

Lucky's other bodyguard, Charlie joined them and said, "I called the police and
an ambulance. They are on the way. How is he doing?"

Johnny checked Luke over and said, "I think he's going to be ok. You better call
Sonny and Jason they will want to know about this."

Charlie pulled out his phone and made the call. Lucky kneeled beside his father
looking for any sign of movement. Luke didn't wake up at all not even when help
arrived. The paramedic ordered the three of them out of the way. Lucky didn't go
too far, he stayed close to his father watching every move they made.

Mac Scorpio joined him at the bottom of the hill and tried to get him to come up
with him. "No. I'm not leaving and you should worry about finding out who did
this. This wasn't an accident. Not after all the death threats I have gotten
over the past few months. This was meant for me," Lucky told him not looking
away from Luke once.

They finally got Luke up the hill and Lucky climbed into the back of the
ambulance with his father. Johnny stayed to talk to the police and give them the
information they need. Charlie followed the ambulance into town to stay close to
Lucky. Lucky watched as the men worked on his father and the guilt was eating at
him. This was meant for me, because someone wants me dead. Lucky realized how
much danger he was in and now was glad he had listened to his father about the
bodyguards.

Sonny and Jason went to get Laura and Lulu at the Spencer household. They
contacted the rest of the family and all of them converged at General Hospital.
Lucky was standing in the emergency room watching the doctors and nurses working
on his father. Laura ran up to him and asked, "How is your father?"

"I don't know they haven't' told me anything." Lucky sadly said.

Bobbie went to get some information and Sonny pulled Charlie away from the
group. "Tell me what happen?" he demanded.

"I don't really know. We were going to get Lucky's car. Johnny and Lucky were
going to drive back to Alexis' house but as we came around one of the curves of
Ocean road, we saw Luke in Lucky's car. Luke made the turn at the same time as
we did. He was moving fast and he was in the middle of the road. I think he ran
off the road because the car was out of control and he was about to hit us,"
Charlie told his boss.

"I want someone to check that car. Get on it. Jason and I will look after
Lucky," Sonny ordered and went back to see if there was any information on Luke.

Luke came around and tried to put his hand to his head. A nurse grabbed his arm
and gently pulled it down. She spoke to him in a low even voice, "Don't do that.
You're in the hospital and you were in a car accident. Can you tell me your
name?" she asked him.

"My name is Luke Spencer. Lady, I'm fine I just have a headache. Now help me up
and show me the way out of here," Luke demanded.

"You're not going anywhere, big brother," Bobbie said, moving beside him.

"You have a concussion and a few crack ribs. Now, stay put or I'm going get Aunt
Ruby and we'll see what she has to say about it," Bobbie threatened.

"You don't play nice," Luke said glaring at her. "Bobbie is my family out
there?"

"Yes and they are all worried about you. I'll go tell them that you are going to
be all right. Don't move," she ordered. Luke snarled at her but did what she
said. He closed his eyes and tried to get his thoughts straight. He remember the
accident and what bothered Luke the most was that the intended target was Lucky.
He was glad his kid wasn't driving or things might have been much, much worse.

Bobbie walked up to where the Spencer family was gathered and said, "He is awake
and wants to go home. The doctor said he has a concussion and they want him to
stay over night. Laura, you go see him but don't talk too loud. Luke is going to
have a very bad headache," she said.

Laura left Lulu with Leslie and went to her husband. Lucky moved away from the
group and sat down in one of the chairs. He was glad to hear about his father
but he was still feeling very guilty. Carly walked up and sat down beside him,
"Hi, cousin," she said.

"Hi Carly. I'm glad you're out of that hospital. How is baby Michael doing?" he
asked.

"Getting big. Why don't you come see him?" she suggested.

"I might do that," he told her.

"Lucky, I heard about all your troubles and I know what you feel like. I loved
my mother and I love Bobbie. I hope they would have gotten along better then
Alexis and Laura. You want anyone to talk to, come find me," she told him and
went to get Michael from Jason.

Lucky looked at her and made himself a promise to talk to her more. Maybe she
could help him figure this mess out. Lucky got up and went to check on his
father. Luke was arguing with Laura. "I want out of here," he told her.

"Now you know how I felt like," Lucky said entering the room.

"Don't laugh, Cowboy. This isn't funny," Luke snapped at him.

"No it isn't but you told me to do what the doctors said because they know more
then I did. I'm telling you the same thing," Lucky said as he moved even closer.

Luke growled at him but relented. "Your mother told me that you were the one
that was in that car," Luke said.

"Yes and don't do that again. I don't want to lose you just yet. I just got to
really know you," Lucky told him.

"That goes double from me," Nik said walking into the room holding Lulu.

"I don't plan on leaving anytime soon. But that accident wasn't meant for me.
Someone is trying to kill you. So, don't take any chance," Luke ordered Lucky.

"I won't and you don't have to tell me that. I all ready guessed it," Lucky told
him.

"Good and don't forget it," Luke said.

They took Luke to his room and Laura sent everyone away and she stayed the rest
of the night with him. Luke slept off and on all night. The night nurse got
thrown out about two in the morning when Luke got sick of getting waken up every few hours. He slept soundly for the rest of the night.
