| Chapter Thirty Six Things did get little better, at least on outside. Alexis and Laura stopped using Lucky as a go between. They took their fighting to each other and tried to hide that fact from him. Which worked most of the time and eased the pressure just a little. They still hated each other but at least they didn't pull him apart any more. Luke, Lucky, and even Nikolas stared going to Gail's on Thursday nights. They were talking about things that none of them realized were bothering them. Luke even talked about his childhood and his sons learned a lot about their father. At the same time, Luke learned a lot about his sons. The main problem was coming from the outside. Alexis started getting death threats or kidnapping threats directed at Lucky. She told Luke and he placed more men on Lucky. He now had two bodyguards at all times and Luke made him promise to keep it that way, at least until things got straightened out. Lucky was tempted to ask Alexis to give the money to the sicko's and thinking maybe they would go away and he could get his life back to normal. Lucky didn't realize until early October how far some of these people were willing to go to get him. Luke was at home early one afternoon to spend time with Laura and Lulu. He heard a knock at the door. He went to check who it was and the caller turned out to be the garage mechanic with Lucky's car. He decided to drive it to Alexis' and park it in the garage for the fact Luke was sure Lucky wasn't going to be driving it for a while. Luke couldn't resist taking the ocean road to the house. Which was long and had plenty of dangerous curves. Luke had to remember to give Lucky the lecture on safe driving. He remembered to give that lecture after he took a curve, and going a little too fast. Luke decided to slow down but when he placed his foot on the brake, nothing worked. "Shit," Luke said. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Lucky got a call from the garage, telling him his car was ready. They told him that it was dropped off at his parents' house. He looked at his bodyguards and asked, "Do you want to take a trip?" They left Alexis' house just minutes after Luke let his house. They took ocean road and headed right into trouble. ~~~~~~~~~~ Luke tried the brakes again and nothing worked. His mind was racing and two things popped into it. One, someone had messed with the breaks and the other was how was he going to stop this car without getting killed. Luke slowly started pulling on the emergency brake and he slowly started to slow down. As he started to take the last curve a car suddenly came into view. Luke did the only thing he knew without taking out the other car and that was send his car off the road and down a steep hill. Luke lost control and the car started to flip. As the car flipped over repeatedly Luke hit his head hard on the steering wheel. He blacked out way before the car came to a stop down the bottom of the hill. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lucky sat in the back seat and watched out the window. The yell from one of the bodyguards brought his attention to the front of the car. Lucky watched in horror as his car with his father in it flew off the side of the road and disappeared down the embankment. "Stop the car!" Lucky yelled and didn't wait for the drive to stop completely. Lucky was out of the car and ran to the edge before the driver could even stop. Lucky noticed that nothing moved down below the hill and that the car was smoking. He feared that it might explode before any help could arrive. Lucky didn't think about his own safety. He just started down the hill, to help his father. Chapter 37 Back to What's the Truth? |
