Chapter Thirty Four

Lucky was sitting on the hood of his car watching the sun slowly disappear in
the sky. He was trying to get a grip on his own thoughts and didn't know where
to start. His mother, Laura was a major part of his problem. Lucky closed his
eyes and pictured the argument they had when this mess first began.

"How dare you tell me who I should love? You might be surprised to learn that I
never loved you at all. Nikolas and Lulu are the ones I love, not you. You
aren't even worth the time or trouble," the fake Laura yelled.

Lucky couldn't speak, his heart shattered right then and he stood staring at her
in shock. The fake Laura suddenly reached up and shoved him with all her might.
Lucky went flying over the rail and landed hard on the table below. He felt
sudden pain when his body struck the table and then the floor. He barely heard
his father yell, "Lucky?"

Lucky was looking up at the woman that looked and sounded like his mother and
she stood there glaring down at him with a very strange look on her face. Lucky
suddenly got up and ran. He avoided the pain in his side, his arm and the blood
that ran down his face. He kept on running until he ducked into an alley. He
grabbed a handkerchief out of his pocket and held it to his face. He was
fighting the tears from the pain his body was in and the pain from his mother's
words.

Lucky suddenly came back to the present time and ran his hand over the scar on
his face. His father had said it wasn't Laura and she did act worried about his
injuries when they were with the Cassadines. He just didn't know what she really
felt.

He also was trying to figure out who he was. He didn't know any more. The lies
had taken it toll on him: Luke and Laura's rape, Luke and Alexis' lie about him,
Laura's secrets about Nik's existence, Laura lies about Stavros being dead, and
all the trouble with Victor. Lucky was felt like he was walking a tight rope and
everyone was shaking it, trying to knock him off. He didn't know who to trust or
what to think. He was raised to hate Cassadines and now he is one. Does he hate
himself or what? The final part was when the judge cut off all Laura and Luke's
parental rights. He felt really alone now and he didn't like it. It was like
being trapped in no man's land, where he didn't below to any side.

Lucky was so wrapped up his thoughts he didn't hear the car pull up beside him.
Luke got out and stood beside the car. He took one look at his son's face and
got really worried. Lucky wasn't looking at anything. His mind was miles away
and the pain was written all over his face. Luke sat down on the car hood and
waited for Lucky to notice him.

"Dad? What are you doing here?" Lucky asked his father, startled to see Luke
sitting beside him.

"I have been here for a while. Your mind was on some trip. What's wrong,
Cowboy?" Luke asked.

"Everything and nothing. Dad..." Lucky stopped and looked away.

"No. Don't shut me out. Tell me Lucky. I might be able to help or find someone
who can," Luke told him.

"All right," Lucky said and took a deep breath and told him everything he was
thinking from Laura to him. "And what's worse, I still don't understand why
Victor tried to kill me. He said I was the heir and should be protected but
treated me like dirt at the same time. I don't know anything anymore and I don't
know what to do about it," Lucky told him.

Luke looked at him and pulled him closer. "Cowboy. First, you are my son and a
Spencer. I don't care what anyone else says. I was wrong telling you to hate all
Cassadines. Most of them belong in deep graves but there were a few good ones. I
should have taught you the difference but I didn't and that is my mistake. Your
mothers are not your problem but theirs. You should be able to love them and not
have to choose. I'm going to try to fix this problem but it is going to take
time. Lucky, about what you remember about the day of the accident... I promise
you, that wasn't your mother. She loves you with all her heart. You were a gift
to her from the very beginning and she cherished you everyday of your life. She
is fighting Alexis because she is afraid of losing you, like she lost the
Vinings. That alone should prove that you mean something to her," Luke said,
looking Lucky directly in the eye.

"I think I know that, but sometimes I'm not too sure," Lucky told him.

"Lucky, go talk to Gail and she will help you," Luke said.

"You don't. Why should I?" Lucky said.

"I do but not in her office. I'm going back next week on Thursday. How about
coming with me? We might find a way to repair the damage to our relationship."
Luke asked.

Lucky looked at his father in shock but softly said, "I'll be there. I can't do
this alone any more. I'm tired of being so lost and alone," Lucky said.

"You're never alone. You just feel that way sometimes. I will there for you as
long as I live and no one is going to stop me," Luke said.

"I know but sometime I just forget. Dad, how did find me?" Lucky asked him.

"I know my son just as well as I know myself. Besides, I had Sonny and Jason
place someone on you," Luke said, pointing to the car hidden down the road.

Lucky looked at him and started to laugh. "You got me there? I didn't even see
them," Lucky said.

"I'm glad because you weren't supposed to. Alexis hasn't thought about this but
I have. The press has named you as the Cassadine heir and that places you in
danger to anyone looking for a fast buck. I'm not taking any chances. You keep
your senses about you at all times. Any trouble and you get to help as fast as
you can. Don't try to handle it on your own," Luke said.

"I promise to get help Besides, the press is getting to me. I feel like I live
in a fish bowl. Everything I do any more ends up in some paper. Dad, I don't
like it," Lucky said shaking his head back and forth.

"You don't? Lucky, I don't like it either. I loved being a nobody and being the
back ground but now the rules have changed on me," Luke said getting up off the
car.

"Its getting late and you have two weddings to get ready for," Luke said.

"Two? Dad, What are you talking about?" Lucky asked looking at his father with a
questioning look.

"Alexis & Ned's and Leslie & Rick's Weddings," Luke told him.

"Rick asked her? I don't believe it but I'm glad," Lucky said.

They both climbed into the car and drove off. Lucky did feel a little better
after his talk with Luke and was looking forward to the up coming weddings. He
just hoped things would work out for everyone.
