| Chapter Thirty Three Nikolas walked into Luke�s club later that day and found him at his desk looking over some bookwork. Nik took a deep breath and said. �Luke. I need to ask you something?� �Sure kid. What do you want?� Luke asked him. Nikolas sat down in one of the chairs and said, �Could I come live with you and Laura?� he asked. �Yes, but tell the truth. Lucky put you up to this didn�t he?� Luke asked. �Yes. He wants someone to look after things for him and got me to work on Laura about Alexis,� Nikolas said. �Well work on Laura and I want to talk to you,� Luke said trying to think of what to say. He took a deep breath and said. �Nikolas. I�m sorry for every rotten thing I did to you or said about you. I know that doesn't mean much but it is the truth,� Luke said. �You mean that don�t you?� Nikolas asked. �Yes. I wouldn�t say it if I didn�t. I�m tired of the fighting and hate. I didn�t realize how messed up things were until Lucky almost died. I know you will never come to love me but could you at least be my friend,� Luke said. �We said that before and we ended up at each others throats but yes. I can be a friend." Nikolas said holding out his hand. �Great. Now, we just have to get Laura and Alexis talking,� Luke said leaning forward. �You have any ideas?� �I have a few. And with little help, we might get it to work,� Nikolas said leaning forward himself. �Out with it kid,� Luke ordered. �We keep them apart until things calm down and run interference for Lucky when we can�t. He's hiding something but I can�t figure out what?� Nikolas said. �I think so too and I have a feeling Victor is part of what he is hiding,� Luke said with a sneer. �Yes but its more than that,� Nikolas told him. �Ok, Nik. We have a plan and I have a deal for you. I liked the way you ran the place when I was gone. How about a job? I�ll handle the acts. I have to work on your taste in groups but you do keep the books way better then I ever could and I made money. What do you think?� Luke asked him stopping every once in a while on the words. �You got it. I was going to help Alexis with the Cassadine family but I don�t feel like it. The one good thing about all of this, I get to choose what my life is going to be and I don�t know yet. Helping you with the Club will give me the chance to think,� Nikolas said. �You want to start tomorrow?� Luke asked him. �I�ll be here,� Nikolas got up to leave. �Nik. Your grandmother is getting married a week after Alexis and wants you and Lucky in the wedding. Stop by Rick�s house and check out things,� Luke told him before Nikolas left the club. �I�m glad and I will. I'll even bring Lucky. I just have to find him first,� Nikolas muttered and left the club. ~~~~~~~~~ Leslie, Lizzie, Sara, and their mother were sitting around Laura�s kitchen table planning the wedding. They had lists of things to do or get scattered everywhere on the table. Laura wasn't listening to Lizzie's conversation with her sister until she caught Lucky�s name being mentioned. �You got to see this car. It is great and Lucky is on cloud nine,� Lizzie said. �I hope he takes me for a drive. Only if you think it is all right?� Sara said. �You got it.� Lizzie told her sister and went back making a list on the food that was needed. Laura got up and went into the kitchen. Leslie got up and joined her. �Laura are you all right?� she asked. �No. Mother, how can I compete with Alexis when she gives him things like that car?� Laura asked. �You don t compete with Alexis on those toys. You love your son and give him a chance to understand that money doesn�t buy love. He�ll come around just don�t push him way with your insecurities about Alexis.� Leslie told her. �Mom that is easier said then done. Every time, I hear her name or worse see her face, I get mad and don�t think what I�m saying. Luke doesn�t make matters any better. He defends her and I hate him for it. He is my husband and he should stand by me,� Laura said. �Laura. He loves you but he loves Lucky, too. Don�t you see what you are doing to that boy. You and Alexis are pulling at him and one day, he just might snap,� Leslie said. �I know and I�ll try. I can�t promise anything else,� Laura said and headed back into the other room.
