| Chapter Twenty Seven Lucky glared at Laura as she walked into the kitchen. He grabbed his coat and stormed out of the house. He was going to see Alexis, whether his mother liked it or not. Lucky walked over to Alexis' house and found Nikolas sitting at the table. "Hi. Can I come in?" Lucky asked from the doorway. "Sure. What's wrong?" Nikolas asked, as Lucky sat down. He didn't look at all happy. "Mom is upset about me wanting to stay with Alexis. Nik, all I want is to get to know her and mom got all bent out of shape. Why is that so bad?" Lucky asked his brother. "It's not Lucky but Laura is afraid of losing you to Alexis," Nikolas said. "She can never lose me. I'm her son and she knows that but Alexis is my birth mother and I want a chance to know her," Lucky said. "I wanted that chance too, but you and Luke didn't like it," Nikolas said. "I'm sorry about that. But I might have taken it better if you wouldn't have said I came to see my sister and mother'. You left out brother. I was afraid you were there to replace me," Lucky told him. "I wasn't out to replace you, because Lucky, no one can do that. I didn't say brother because I all ready decided that you were the enemy. You had what I wanted. Mom's love and devotion. I didn't realize that I could have had it, too. I just had to open my heart," Nikolas said. "We were both fools but at least we are on the same side now. I just have to get mom to realize that Alexis isn't the enemy," Lucky said. "Good luck because things might get worse before they get better," Nikolas said. ~~~~~~~~~~ Luke and Laura left town and Lucky moved in with Alexis. He didn't tell her that his parents didn't know and Nikolas kept his mouth shut. They spent hours talking and going places together. Alexis opened a door for Lucky he didn't realize was closed before. He knew his parents didn't have the money to send him to a big, expensive school and he was willing to let his dreams go, but Alexis found out about those dreams. Alexis walked into the living room and found Lucky looking over booklets and pamphlets of colleges that he had requested. He had two piles on the floor and was looking at the smaller pile. She noticed the best electronic schools were put a side and didn't even looked touched. He was reading a brochure from the local electronic school and was filling out the paper work. She sat down on the couch and asked, "Why are you applying to a college like that one but not these important schools?" Alexis said pointing to the forgotten pile. "Dad and Mom don't have the money and I don't have school record to get scholarships. I spent too much of my life under different names and in too many schools. I'm stuck with this kind of school," Lucky said holding up the paper. "You are not stuck' with any kind of school, I can assure you that," Alexis said getting up and placing the other books on his lap. "Pick out the school you want and I will take care of the rest." "Alexis, my parents will flip. I can't take your money or your help," he said. "It is your money and you can do anything you want with it. Lucky, the cousin I gave the power to was about ready to lose everything and I stepped in and a regained control. I'm running the Cassadine family and I hope you will want to take over some day," she said. "I can't, Alexis. Dad would blow his top," Lucky told her. "Your father isn't in charge of your life and the only one who can decide what's best is you. Don't settle for second in life, Lucky or you will regret it," Alexis said. Lucky looked at the brochures and realized she was right. He always dreamed of going to a school like M. I. T or Stanford and he was willing to give it all up because of his father's pride. Lucky opened the first book and started reading. He was just a junior but it was time he made plans for his future and now he could have anything he wanted. Lucky was still reading the booklets when Ned Ashton walked into the house. "Hi. Where is Alexis?" Ned asked sitting down on the couch. "She is upstairs getting ready, she will be down in a little bit," Lucky said without looking up. "What are you reading?" Ned asked looking at him questionably. "I'm looking at booklets on electronic programs at various colleges. I'm trying to figure out which ones are the best," Lucky told him. "Good luck. Hey, how about taking a tour of ELQ Electronics? It might help picking out a school," Ned said. "Thanks, I would like that," Lucky said. "Ned, this dinner isn't going to one of the Quartermaine's blow outs is it?" "I hope not. Ever since Alexis and I got engaged, my family has been in an uproar. I'm glad you are going along tonight and if grandfather starts in on you, you have my permission to wring his neck," Ned said. "Ned, don't give him any ideas," Alexis said walking down the stairs. "Hey, I was thinking of doing it myself," Ned told her. They got up and headed to the Quartermaine's house for a very long night.
