| Chapter Twenty Six Lucky was sitting on a bench in the park. He was looking at a spot on the ground and didn't hear Alexis walk up and sit down beside him. She sat there for along time and then finally spoke. "What's wrong?" "I don't want to talk about it," Lucky said, moving away from her. Alexis wasn't going to let him alone. She stood back and let Luke & Laura handle this their way long enough. She walked over to where Lucky stood and said, "Lucky talk to me, please. I know there is something bothering you and I want to help." "I could have fought back but I didn't. I let him push me around and it almost got my father killed. Alexis, I'm not even half Spencer," he said, looking at her with sad blue eyes. Alexis looked at Lucky and shook her head slowly. She gently pulled him down on the bench and said, "Lucky, you did nothing wrong. Victor was using you to get to your father. The only one who did anything wrong was Victor." "I let him," he said. "You let him, Lucky? We let Victor hurt you. We left you with Victor with no protection and that was wrong. You did nothing wrong," she said looking him directly in the eye. "What could you have done?" he asked her. The second he said those words he realized she trapped him and she was right. He couldn't have stopped Victor and it was Victor fault not his. Lucky looked up at Alexis and said, "I was a fool." "No. You were confused and scared. Lucky, there is nothing wrong with that, but what was wrong was not talking to anyone about it. Everyone needs someone to talk to sometimes and it doesn't make you less of a person. Your father should try it. He might get in less trouble," she said with a smile. They sat and talked for along while both learning more about the other. Lucky looked at her and asked, "Dad and Mom are going to leave for month. I was going to stay with Aunt Bobbie but how about I come and stay with you? We could get to know each other better?" Lucky asked her. "I don't mind, but only if your parents say it is all right," she told him. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lucky walked into the Spencer living room smiling for the first time in months. He walked up to Lulu and picked her up and swung her around. "Hi, little sister. How are you doing today?" he asked her. The little girl laughed and showed her brother the drawing she did. He sat her down and decided to play with her a while. Lucky was enjoy himself when Laura walked into the room and found him laughing. "Well, I'm glad you finally shook your mood. What happened? Did Lizzie and you talk or something?" she asked him folding some clothes. "No. Alexis and I talked and she help me realize some things," Lucky said, picking up an apple and heading up the stairs. "And mom, I'm going to stay with her while you and dad are gone, not Aunt Bobbie." Lucky disappeared up the stairs. Laura looked at him in shock. She knew he wanted to get to know Alexis, but staying with her and going to her with his problems, Laura didn't expect and didn't like. Later that night Luke and Laura were in bed, talking softly to each other and Laura said, "No, Luke. He isn't going to stay with her and that is final." "Laura. You tell him no and Lucky will fight you. Give him chance to know her. He loves you but he is also curious about Alexis. Victor played with his mind and emotions. She talked to him and he opened up. She isn't out to take Lucky from you. She cares for him and wants what's best. Can't you understand that?" Luke said to her. "Luke. No. I can't. I raised Lucky and she didn't. He is our son and she can't do anything about it," Laura said and turned over and tried to go to sleep. Luke looked at her and shook his head. He thinks she making mistake and things are going to get bad. ~~~~~~~~~~ Lucky looked at his mother and said, "I'm staying with Alexis and you can't do anything about it. Mom, I love you but I want to know her. I feel whole for first time in years and understand things better. You said you would give me the chance to know her in the hospital," he said.
