| Chapter Twenty Five The information that the WSB sent helped Dr. Lambert greatly and Lucky's health improved. He still had trouble with his hands but she said they would improve in time. Dr. Lambert let him go home a week before Victor's trial was scheduled to start. He wasn't looking forward to telling the whole town about the way Victor treated him and was avoiding thinking about it. Lucky talked a little to Gail, but cut most of the sessions that Laura had set up for him. He spent a lot time alone, trying to get his thoughts straighten out Everyone was worried but no one knew how help him. Laura hung up the phone and shook her head. She found Luke sitting on the floor playing with Lulu. He looked up at her and asked, "What's wrong?" "That was Gail. Lucky didn't show up again today," she told him. "Luke, he is avoiding talking about everything and not only with Gail. Dara needs his statement and he has been putting it off. We have to do something," she told him, as Luke got to his feet. "I don't know what to do with Gail, but Dara was approached by Victor's lawyer a week ago and I have been thinking about agreeing with the deal," Luke told her, sitting down at the table. "What kind of deal and why haven't you told me about it before?" she said glaring at him. "I was against it at first, but since Lucky isn't ready to talk to anyone, I think it might be the best thing to do," Luke told her. "What is the deal?" she asked. "All charges against Lance, Helena, & Stavros and Victor will plead guilty to kidnapping and attempted murder and expect all responsibility." Luke told her. "Are you crazy?" she yelled. "They took our son, killed Stefan and Katherine, and almost killed our son and you are thinking about letting them go." "Laura, I don't want to, but Lucky isn't talking and we can't make him. They will all walk without his help. Victor is making this deal only because he wants to keep Lance out of jail. The DA is talking about trying him as adult. He isn't ready to risk Lance's freedom," Luke told her. "Luke, but let Helena and Stavros walk?" she said. "They have to be found first," Luke told her with a strange tone of voice. Laura looked at her husband but didn't ask what she was thinking. She knew better than to ask a question like that. Laura looked at Luke and said, "Let's do it. I don't want to put Lucky through any more grief than he has already had. I just hope we aren't doing the wrong thing." she said. "Laura. Helena and Stavros aren't going to show their faces in town again and as for Stefan and Katherine's deaths, we don't know who did it, So they wouldn't even have stood trial for that in this town," Luke told her and got up to call Dara. Lucky was sitting on the top stairs listening to his parents talk. He was glad that he didn't have to go to trial but the tone he heard from his father's voice When he talked about Helena and Stavros, Lucky got worried. He didn't know what to think about them. They did help him and he wasn't sure what to think about them any more. Lucky got up and headed down the back stairs and out the back door. Lucky wasn't ready to talk to them about skipping the appointment and wanted to be left alone. Nikolas was sitting at Alexis' new kitchen table watching his brother walk toward the docks. Nikolas looked at Alexis and said, "Lucky isn't handling this very well," he told her. "No. He isn't and I'm worried about him, but I'm also worried about you, too. You came in late last night and you sounded mad. What happen at the Club?" she asked him. I never met anyone as stubborn as Luke Spencer. Nikolas said. What did he do? she asked. He wouldnt listen to me at all or even think about my ideas. Nikolas said. Nik. Luke does own the club and he has the final say. You two have a lot to go through yet. Dont you have an appointment with Gail today? Dont do what Lucky is doing and skip it. She might help bring you two together. Alexis told him. "I will and your right we have a lot to work through, yet. Alexis, You could have bought any house. Why did you pick this one?" he asked. "I picked it because I wanted to be close to Lucky. I was out his life for so long. I'm not going to stay away anymore," Alexis said and she headed to her date with Ned. Nikolas looked at her and shook his head. He felt really sorry for Lucky. He was about to become him and he didn't even know it. Nikolas was thinking about leaving town but now he decided to stick around. Lucky was going to need all the friends he could to get through this mess and Nik was planning to be one of them. Whether Lucky wanted him to or not! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Gail was sitting at her desk looking over some papers, when Luke and Nikolas arrived together for their session. She smiled at that and waited until both of them sat down. "Well, I almost thought that no one was ready to talk about anything," she said. "I'm sorry about Lucky and I'll try to get him here but I'm not pushing him, Gail," Luke told her. "Don't and I'm sorry about the remark. I have had four other people cancel beside Lucky. Why don't you both sit down and lets get started," she said to them. They both looked as if they wanted to be somewhere else and sat straight up in the chairs and barely moved. She smiled at them and said, "Would you both relax. You don't have to talk about anything that you don't want to." Nikolas smiled and relaxed a little, but Luke just got more tense. Nikolas looked at him and laughed. "I never thought the great Luke Spencer could be afraid of anything," he said to him. Luke looked at the boy and growled, "What do you mean the great Luke Spencer?" he said. "You act as if you do nothing wrong and everyone else is below you. I thought the Cassadine family was stuck up but you Luke are the worst of the worst," he told him. "Me? I'm stuck up. Kid, you don't know me at all. I don't act like I know it all, but I know more than you ever will," Luke said to him. "You think you're right all the time and know what is best for everyone. You act as if you are still the Mayor of Port Charles," Nikolas said to him. "What are you talking about?" Luke asked him. "How about Laura? You lie to her about Lucky running away, but you blame her for keeping me a secret for all those years. What's the difference?" Nikolas asked him. "Leave my relationship between my wife and myself out of this. We are here to talk about you," Luke glared at him. "You can't face your own failings. Can you?" Nikolas said, all most getting right into his face. "My failing. How about yours kid? You walked into this town and acted as if you owned it and now that you have nothing, what are you going to do? Run and hide or stand on your own two feet?" Luke asked him. Gail spoke up for the first time. "Boys. You both have good points. Let's deal with them one at time," she said but Nikolas and Luke weren't listening. They were still at each other's throats. Luke looked at Nikolas and said, "Kid, I have deal for you. Your mother and I are going on a honeymoon for the first time in years. Just the two of us. I'm going to let you run the Club. You make all the decisions but don't forget who my partner is and I bet you will fall flat on your face," Luke said to him. Nikolas looked at Luke and said, "How long are you going to be gone?" "One month. We leave the day after Victor's sentencing," Luke said. "You got it. I'll prove you wrong. I can out do you any day," Nikolas said. Gail put her pencil down and shook her head. "I have to take a vacation or something because this hasn't been my week," she thought looking at both Spencer's, standing face to face. Chapter 26 Back to What's the truth? |
